OMNISCIENTThe early morning light filtered through the windows of the Airbnb, casting a soft glow on the living room where the women were slowly waking up. The previous events had left them exhausted, and the tension of unresolved issues still lingered in the air.
Coko stretched and yawned, heading towards the kitchen to start a pot of coffee. "Why does morning always come so early after a show?" she muttered.
LeLee, already sipping her coffee, grinned. "Because we party too damn hard and sleep too little."
Tiny and Tamika shuffled in, looking groggy but determined to make the best of the day. Taj joined them, her hair still tousled from sleep. Then Kandi shortly came trailing behind.
As they gathered around the kitchen island, their managers entered the room, their expressions serious.
"Good morning, ladies," one of the managers began, his tone grave. "We need to talk about something important."
The room fell silent as everyone turned their attention to him.
"LaTocha has informed us that she's not doing the tour."
The shock was immediate. Tamika's face fell, Kandi's eyes rolled very hard as if she already knew that it was bullshit, Taj and Tiny exchanged worried glances, and Coko and LeLee looked at each other, speechless.
TAMIKA
I felt a lump in my throat. Despite everything, I had hoped LaTocha would come around. The realization that she was really leaving hit hard.
"She's really not coming?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
Our manager shook his head. "No, she's decided to step away."
Kandi sighed, rubbing her temples. "Well, we still have a show to put on. Let's make it the best one yet. We got this, and we've done shows without Tocha before. This won't be any different."

Determined to push through, the ladies headed to the venue to rehearse. The mood was tense but focused. They ran through their setlist, each song a mix of practiced ease and underlying frustration.
Coko watched Tamika rehearse, seeing the strain on her face. She wanted to say something, to offer some comfort, but words felt inadequate. Instead, she threw herself into the performance, hoping the music would help them all get through this.
Taj and Tiny worked on perfecting their harmonies, trying to keep the mood light. "Alright, ladies, let's nail this!" Taj encouraged, her voice filled with determination.
LeLee, despite the tension, couldn't help but crack a joke. "I think we need to bring back our matching outfits, Coko. Maybe that'll lift the spirits."
Coko rolled her eyes but smiled. "You and your matching outfits, LeLee."
