4 months later
Liam was bustling around his cozy living room, setting out a variety of snacks on the coffee table. The soft glow from the lamps cast a warm light over the room, creating an inviting atmosphere. The aroma of freshly baked cookies mingled with the scent of popcorn, filling the air with a comforting fragrance.
He glanced at his watch, noting that there was still some time before the others would arrive. He wanted to make sure everything was perfect. This meeting was important, and he didn't want to alert the older pack members yet. They needed to discuss their next steps privately.
As he adjusted a bowl of chips, the front door swung open, and Mason strolled in like he owned the place.
"Hey, Liam!" Mason called out cheerfully, not bothering to knock. He headed straight for the kitchen, moving with the ease of someone who had been there countless times before.
Liam smiled, watching his best friend open the fridge and grab a Gatorade. Mason twisted off the cap and took a long drink before plopping down on the couch next to Liam.
"Got everything ready?" Mason asked, glancing at the spread of snacks.
"Yeah, just about," Liam replied, adjusting a plate of cookies. "I figured we could use the fuel. We've got a lot to talk about."
Mason nodded, his expression turning serious. "Yeah, we do. I'm just glad we're doing this here. Less chance of anyone overhearing us."
Liam sighed in agreement, feeling the weight of the upcoming conversation settle over him. "Yeah, me too. We need to figure out what we're going to do next."
They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, the familiarity of their friendship providing a brief respite from the tension. As they waited for the others to arrive, they shared a quiet camaraderie, knowing that whatever happened, they would face it together.
Liam turned to Mason, breaking the comfortable silence. "Bella and Peter are running late," he said, a hint of concern in his voice.
Mason raised an eyebrow. "Did they say why?"
Liam shook his head. "No, just that they got held up. But they should be here soon."
Mason nodded, taking another sip of his Gatorade. "I'm sure they'll be here soon. You know how they are. Bella probably got caught up with something, and Peter... well, he's always got a reason."
Liam chuckled, the tension easing slightly. "Yeah, you're right. I'm just anxious to get this started. We need to figure out how we're going to handle everything."
Mason gave Liam a reassuring pat on the back. "We will. We'll figure it out together. And hey, at least we've got snacks to keep us occupied in the meantime."
Liam smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. "Yeah, you're right. Thanks, Mason."
As they waited, the sound of footsteps on the porch made both boys look toward the door. A moment later, it swung open, and Bella and Peter walked in, looking slightly out of breath but determined.
"Sorry we're late," Bella said, brushing a stray hair out of her face. "We ran into some unexpected trouble."
Peter nodded in agreement, his usual confident demeanor tinged with a hint of frustration. "Yeah, but we're here now. Let's get down to business."
Liam stood up, his concern replaced by a sense of urgency. "Alright, let's do this. We've got a lot to discuss."
Bella and Peter joined them on the couch, and as they settled in, the room grew quiet, the gravity of the situation settling over them. Despite the snacks and the familiar surroundings, they all knew that what they were about to discuss could change everything.
The discussion was in full swing, with each member contributing their thoughts and concerns. The snacks lay mostly untouched as they focused on strategizing their next move. Liam was in the middle of explaining a plan when a sudden knock at the door interrupted him.
Everyone froze, exchanging wary glances. Liam's heart raced as he stood up and moved cautiously toward the door. He peered through the peephole and relaxed slightly when he saw Hayden standing on the porch.
Liam opened the door, and Hayden stepped inside, her expression urgent. "I know how you can stop Theo," she said without preamble.
The room fell silent as everyone turned their attention to her. "What do you mean?" Bella asked, her eyes narrowing in suspicion.
Hayden took a deep breath, looking directly at Liam. "Theo will listen to you, Liam. You can stop him."
Liam frowned, confusion evident on his face. "Why would he listen to me?"
Hayden's gaze softened, and she stepped closer to Liam. "Because you're his mate," she said quietly.
The words hung in the air, and for a moment, no one spoke. Liam felt like the ground had been pulled out from under him. "His... mate?" he echoed, disbelief in his voice.
Hayden nodded. "Yes. Theo has always had a connection to you, stronger than with anyone else. That's why he's been so focused on you. He's not just trying to defeat you, Liam; he's trying to claim you."
Mason's eyes widened as he processed the information. "So, you're saying Liam can stop him because of this... bond?"
Hayden nodded again. "Yes. If Liam can reach him, speak to him, it might be enough to make Theo stand down."
Bella looked at Liam, her expression a mix of concern and determination. "Liam, this could be our best shot."
Peter, who had been silent until now, finally spoke up. "It's risky, but it might be our only chance."
Liam felt the weight of their words pressing down on him. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "Okay," he said finally. "I'll do it. I'll talk to Theo."
Hayden gave him a reassuring smile. "I know it's a lot to take in, but I believe you can do this. We all do."
Liam nodded, feeling a newfound resolve. "Alright then. Let's figure out how we're going to make this work."
Liam took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come. "Alright, let's go," he said to Hayden.
Hayden nodded, her expression resolute. "We'll need to meet him somewhere private where he won't feel threatened."
Liam glanced back at Bella, Peter, and Mason. "I'll be back. Just... be ready in case something goes wrong."
Bella stood up, crossing the room to give Liam a tight hug. "Be careful, okay?" she whispered.
"I will," Liam promised, pulling back and giving her a reassuring smile.
As Liam and Hayden left the house, Bella pulled out her phone and quickly dialed Stiles' number. It rang twice before he picked up.
"Stiles, it's Bella," she said urgently. "We've got a situation. Liam is going to meet Theo alone. We need backup."
Stiles' voice was immediately alert. "Alone? Are you serious? Where are you?"
"We're at Liam's place," Bella replied. "Hayden says Theo will listen to Liam because they're mates. It's our best shot, but we can't take any chances."
"Got it. We'll be there as fast as we can," Stiles said. Bella could hear him relaying the information to the rest of the pack in the background.
"Thanks, Stiles. Hurry," Bella said before hanging up.
She turned to Peter and Mason, who had been listening intently. "Stiles and the rest of the pack are on their way. We need to be ready for anything."
Peter nodded, his expression grim. "Let's make sure we're prepared."
Meanwhile, with Liam and Hayden...
Liam followed Hayden through the quiet streets of Beacon Hills, the tens
