ART AND ANYA HAD BEEN FUCKING FOR 3 MONTHS NOW.
it was glaringly obvious to anyone with eyes. tashi seemed to get closer to anya in these months. while anya felt tashi had a "keep your enemies closer" mindset that just wasn't the truth.
honestly tashi had noticed anyas improvement and dedication to not only the game of tennis but the game of love between her and tashi.
tashi saw how much anya wanted to win their little competition and it felt refreshing.
tashi finally had a good opponent.anya was starting to feel a connection to art but her devotion to patrick outweighed whatever she could've felt for him.
in the few days each month patrick would come and visit he would almost spend more time with anya than his own girlfriend.
tashi didn't seem to mind as she never felt severely attached to patrick beyond the title of being his girlfriend. anya and patrick's friendship seemed to grow as time went on. art couldn't help but to feel a little jealous but at the end of the day he had her 24 hours a day 7 days a week while his friend didn't, so he couldn't complain.things seemed to be good.
the season had started and the trio were dominating the court.
this particular day patrick had arrived at stanford presumably to see tashi.
tashi had a game so he knew his time was limited.
limited time however didn't stop him from seeing his friends beforehand.—☆
"pat! over here!" anya had waved him towards art and her.
art seemed pissed at her excitement but he was also excited so he decided not to read too much into it. "hey gomez addams, lighten the fuck up!" patrick laughed slapping his friends arm. one thing art and patrick did well was read eachother and patrick could tell his friend was upset.
"hey man. you here to see tashi?" art smiled faintly.
"no i came to see you two idiots as well as tashi."
patrick seemed like he was lying and both anya and art couldn't lie it stung a bit."you know it's kinda bro time annie so maybe you should let us catch up and we'll all meet back up later?" art asked looking at the girl.
"oh alright then i'll see you later patrick!" she smiled as the blonde boy pressed a small kiss to her forehead.
she still didn't really know what she felt for art but she knew it felt good and she wasn't willing to give it up just yet, even if her heart didn't align with his.anya sat on the edge of tashi's bed while tashi stretched on the floor.
"i just think this whole thing is good for you, y'know? it's what you needed in your career, that motivation. like when i see you guys together and when we hang out it seems like you're both in sync and it's what you need on the court!" tashi ranted.
"tash, i love you but, my god, i hate that all we talk about is tennis and those fucking white boys!" anya sighed."well that's all we have in common. if you don't find me interesting then what the fuck do you keep me around for? why are you wasting your time?"
"tashi, we're friends because we get along on top of having a shared interest. we aren't friends solely because of our shared interest. i'm not wasting my time being your fucking friend because i enjoy your company but, it feels like nowadays all you're interested in is fucking fire and ice or fucking tennis and frankly i'm bored. if that's all you think about then maybe i am wasting my time because, i don't want to waste our friendship talking about the two most boring aspects of my life." anya spat."you're my fucking soulmate."
"bitch you're insane."the two girls broke out in laughter. no matter what they knew they'd always be friends because they were so similar yet still, so different.
"tashi duncan, i will always be your number one fan." anya sighed. she knew she would be tethered to tashi forever whether she wanted to be or not. it was a bittersweet fate.
the girls stared at each other with a gaze that said everything and nothing at all. a gaze that said; you're all i've ever known and you're all i want for the rest of my time on this earth.
the silence was so insanely loud it almost hurt their ears.the two girls drew closer, lips meeting in the middle.
it felt right.
for the last 5 years they were all eachother knew.
it was tashi, anya and, tennis.
this had been festering like a sick disgusting sore inside of both of them.
some may say repressed, others may say it was always apparent.
it didn't matter.
it was right.anya pulled away first.
tashi noticed the feared look on her face. tashi wasn't one to get scared easily however this was the single most terrifying moment in her life."i'm not gay, tashi."
gay.
"i'm not either."
those words felt like acid coming out of her mouth.
tashi was telling the truth... somewhat.
she wasn't gay but when it came to anya it was complicated.
anya felt the same way however she knew she couldn't feel this way for tashi.
she couldn't explain why but she knew she just couldn't.a knock on the door broke the girls out of thought.
when patrick stood in the doorway anya couldn't bring herself to stay, instead rushing out of the door.tears welled up in the girls eyes. she had kissed tashi before so it shouldn't have been a big deal but this was different. this wasn't just a silly sleepover activity, it was serious. she had never kissed anyone like that before.
though it was only a small kiss there was so much passion and love behind it. it wasn't the type of love she felt for patrick or art or her parents, it was something else entirely. she had to forget about it. leave it behind her entirely.she looked for the only person who could help her at that moment.
art.
