CONTENT WARNING - descriptive gore, dead bodies, panic attack
**************************************************Hermione regarded the sign with solemn curiosity.
"The Nox," she murmured to herself. "This cadaver shows symptoms of the plague as well. I wonder if that's what the Hamlet named the disease."
She lifted the sign, and the skin of the deceased below stuck to the wood and stretched- tearing into gooey strings as Hermione lifted it away. "Oh look! There's something on the back too!" She glanced at Malfoy, who was frowning at her with disgust.
"What?" She snapped, the look on his face automatically making her angry.
"A portkey makes you vomit, but you play with the viscera of a corpse and you get a childlike gleam in your eye," Malfoy shakes his head. "You're horrifying."
Hermione snorted. "I wouldn't be a very good Healer if I was scared of a little dermis, Malfoy."
"Whatever gets you off," he quipped, spinning his ring around his finger, nonchalantly. "What's so interesting on the back of the sign?"
"It says Ecclesiastes.. three, twenty." Hermione frowned. "That's..."
"The bible," Malfoy filled her silence. "What do the numbers mean?"
"They reference a certain verse. I'll have to look it up later."
"Okay, just hold the sign there, for a second," Malfoy was all business as he unzipped his camera bag and dug around inside.
Hermione was amused, as she watched him, realizing he must have used the same charm on the camera bag that she used on all of her own, including the back pack that she carried with her now.
Finally he pulled out the actual camera, popped off the lens cap, and held it up to his eye so he could see through the viewfinder.
"Let me get a picture of the Bible verse... good... okay now put it back how it was initially," He handled the camera quickly.
Once he was done, he lifted his wand at Hermione, and a bubble appeared around her head, and then he did his own next.
"Clearly the Hamlet had humans and wizard kind living together, openly. It should be okay to use magic to protect ourselves."
"Yes," Hermione frowned. "Unfortunately though, we've been breathing in this smoke, and near this body. Until we know how it spreads, we'll still need to be in quarantine once we get back."
"Lovely," Malfoy grumbled, but he didn't argue.
"Should we take him down?" Hermione put her hands on her hips and frowned at the body.
"No, leave it. The ministry will have to come out here and examine the Hamlet once we're done here. Better not to touch anything just yet," Malfoy began to edge closer to the nearest building. "There's a magical barrier up ahead."
"How can you tell?" Hermione didn't see anything.
"I told you earlier, I can sense magic. This barrier just feels like the air is vibrating... or humming."
"That's very interesting. You and Olivia are the first wizards I've heard say anything like that," Hermione chewed on her bottom lip, mulling over any mention of such a thing she might have read before, but turning up short once again.
Malfoy smirked, "The Weasleys seem like their only super power is popping out more gingers, so I doubt you would've heard about it."
Hermione let out an angry puff of air. "You're impossible. Never mind, if I want to know I'll just ask Olivia."
