Chapter 03: Attraction or Attraction?
ALDRICH
"Yes po, but it would be a huge addition to your financial."
I looked at Ellie and Uncle Frank as they talk about George's birthday party. Gusto raw nilang i-celebrate sa garden sa likod 'yung party.
The thing is, they don't know anything about designing dahil parehas silang busy sa kumpanyang pinagtatrabahuhan nila as accountants.
Turns out they saw Ellie's page and decided to contact her. Mabuti nga raw at malapit lang daw siya para mas maganda at mas madali 'yung communication.
Ako naman, I'm busy sitting here on the kitchen. I messaged my sister that I'm in our uncle's residence. Siya naman, nasa company pa raw nila at may sinesettle na projects in terms of architecture. Baka raw malate, ulit.
I've been so worried to her these past few days. Kadalasan late na talaga siyang umuuwi, minsan pa naririnig kong umuubo but she kept on denying the obvious. Ayaw lang mag-alala kapatid niya.
I heard someone running downstairs and saw George smiling. "Papa!"
"Oh, 'nak," uncle carried him in his arms. "Sakto, nandito ka. Anong gusto mong design sa birthday mo? Hindi ako makapagdesisyon, e'."
"Captain America!" the little boy was giggling while saying the name of his favorite Marvel hero. "May... may friends po ako?"
I can't help but smile hearing George speak. Ang bilis talaga ng development niya in terms of socializing. As his uncle ninong, I'm proud of how he developed into a fast-learner kid.
"Oo naman!" ginulo ni tito ang buhok niya. "Pero bawal ang marami, ang mga close mo lang, ah!"
Tumango naman si Geo. My eyes diverted to Ellie and saw her smiling while staring at uncle and George.
"Papa, gusto ko tulog," Geo rubbed his eyes and yawned.
"Aba. Ellie, gusto mo bang umuwi muna? Bukas na lang natin pag-usapan?"
"It's okay for me po, I can stay up late. Para bukas ho after class bibili na ako ng materials," Ellie smiled at him. "I can wait po."
"O' siya, sandali lang. Babalik ako agad," and they walked upstairs.
Ellie looked at the clipboard that she's holding and mumbling something before she sat somewhere. I noticed that she's looking for something on the table.
"Water?" I asked.
Tumingin siya sa akin at mukhang nagulat pa. "Nandito ka pa pala?"
"Well," I looked at my area here in the kitchen. Hindi talaga ako mapapansin dahil madilim 'yung pwesto. "Yeah. Water?"
"Yes, please," I left my seat to get another jar inside the fridge. Kumuha na rin ako ng bagong baso para sa kaniya.
I brought the two and placed the jar on the table. Inabot ko naman sa kaniya 'yung tubig. "Thank you, Tristan."
I got a peak of her writings on the paper clipped on the board. "I think it's true when they say, designers have the best penmanship."
Her writings were almost a font from Canva due to its neatness and clarity. Natatawa niya naman akong tinignan. "Ang pangit nga."
I shrugged my shoulders before standing up. Babalik na sana ako sa kusina nang napansin kong nakatitig lang siya sa baso. "I thought you were thirsty?"
