Miri and the Lost Rainbow

The Search Begins**

Long ago, in the Dreamtime, the world was bright with the colors of the magnificent **Bunjil** (Rainbow) that stretched across the sky. The Bunjil was a gift from the great spirit **Bunjil** (the eagle), who loved to paint the world with vibrant hues.

One day, the Bunjil vanished, leaving the world dull and gray. The animals were sad, missing the beautiful colors. The wise **emu** named Miri, known for her cleverness, decided to help.

Miri called a meeting with all the animals, including **kangaroos** (who were called **Kangaroo**), **wombats** (known as **Wombat**), and **platypuses** (referred to as **Platypus**). They all agreed that finding the lost Bunjil would bring joy back to their land.

Miri began her search by visiting the **bush** (woodland) where the Bunjil was last seen. She used her sharp eyes and listened carefully to the whispers of the wind. Along the way, she found clues—a piece of colorful feather, a sparkling **ngurra** (flower), and a trail of shimmering stones.

With each clue, Miri grew closer to finding the Bunjil. She followed the trail to a hidden **cave** (a rock shelter) where the Bunjil had accidentally gotten trapped. Miri used her cleverness to find a way to release the Bunjil, and soon, colors began to fill the sky again.

The animals cheered with joy as the Bunjil returned to its place in the sky, painting the world with its beautiful colors once more. Miri was praised for her bravery and cleverness, and the animals celebrated with a grand feast of **bush tucker** (native food).

From that day on, whenever the Bunjil appeared, the animals remembered the clever emu who restored the colors to their world. And as you look up at the Bunjil, remember Miri's adventure and the importance of using your skills and kindness to help others.
