Justin woke up to the sound of the waves gently lapping against the shore, a serene reminder of the island's beauty. The events of the previous night came rushing back to him—Josh's drunken confession, the kiss they shared. It all felt surreal. He got out of bed and made his way downstairs, where he found Ken, Stell, and Pablo already sipping coffee at the kitchen table.
"Morning," Justin greeted, trying to keep his voice steady. "Where's Josh?"
Ken looked up and replied, "Still asleep. Probably nursing a massive hangover."
Justin nodded and poured himself a cup of coffee. As he sipped it, he couldn't shake the sadness that Josh might not remember the confession or the kiss. A few moments later, Josh stumbled down the stairs, looking like he'd run a marathon, his face pale and his movements sluggish.
"What happened last night?" Josh groaned, rubbing his temples. "I don't remember anything."
The others shrugged, equally clueless due to their own drunkenness. Justin's heart sank, but he forced a smile and decided to make them some soup to help with their hangovers. While the soup simmered, Justin stepped outside to clear his head, the weight of unspoken truths pressing down on him.
Stell noticed Justin standing by the water and walked over. "Hey, what are you doing out here?"
"Just thinking," Justin replied, trying to keep his voice steady. He was thinking about the confessions and the kiss, but he couldn't bring himself to share it with anyone yet.
Josh, meanwhile, was struggling with a splitting headache and fragmented memories from the night before. Amid the haze, he recalled something that felt like a kiss, but the details were fuzzy. It left him feeling confused and intrigued.
Two days passed since that night, and the group had already spent a week of their vacation in Siargao. Josh had been plagued by a recurring dream where he confessed his feelings to someone and kissed them. Each time, the face in the dream became clearer, and this morning, he finally saw it was Justin.
Determined to get to the bottom of this, Josh got up and went to find Justin. He found him on the balcony, looking at his phone. Josh walked over, tapped him on the shoulder, and sat down beside him.
"Morning, Justin," Josh greeted, his voice tentative. "Can we talk about what happened that night we were drinking?"
Justin tensed but then turned to face Josh, his expression serious. "Good morning, Josh. What do you want to know?"
Josh hesitated, then took a deep breath. "I had this dream... or maybe it was a memory. Did something happen between us that night?"
Justin's heart pounded as he recalled the events. "Yes, something did happen," he admitted. "You were really drunk and asked me who I was in love with. I told you it was you, Josh. I confessed how much I loved you, and then... you confessed to me too. You said you've loved me for a long time and then you kissed me."
Josh's eyes widened, his mind reeling. "So it wasn't a dream?"
"No, it wasn't," Justin confirmed, his voice barely above a whisper. "It was real."
Josh hugged Justin tightly, feeling a rush of emotions. "I meant everything I said, Justin. I really like you. I've liked you for so long, but I was scared."
Justin smiled, tears of relief and joy welling up in his eyes. "I feel the same, Josh. I've loved you for so long."
They kissed again, a tender, passionate kiss that felt like a promise of something beautiful and lasting.
As they pulled apart, Josh's mind was spinning with thoughts and emotions. "I can't believe this is happening," he said, his voice shaky but filled with happiness.
"Me neither," Justin replied, his smile radiant. "But I'm glad it is."
They spent the rest of the morning talking about their feelings, sharing moments they had kept hidden for so long. The fear of ruining their friendship melted away as they realized how much they meant to each other.
Later that day, the group decided to go out and explore more of Siargao. The atmosphere was lighter, filled with laughter and camaraderie. Josh and Justin couldn't help but steal glances at each other, their newfound relationship adding a spark to their interactions.
As the sun began to set, they returned to their beach house, feeling content and happy. They sat together on the balcony, watching the sky turn brilliant shades of orange and pink. Josh wrapped an arm around Justin, pulling him close.
"This is perfect," Josh whispered, pressing a kiss to Justin's temple.
"Yeah, it is," Justin agreed, resting his head on Josh's shoulder. "I'm so glad we're here, together."
The days that followed were filled with joy and adventure. They explored hidden beaches, tried new foods, and made memories that would last a lifetime. Josh and Justin's relationship grew stronger with each passing day, their bond deepening as they shared more of themselves with each other.
One evening, as they watched the sunset, Justin turned to Josh with a serious expression. "Josh, there's something I want to talk about."
Josh looked at him, concerned. "What is it, Justin?"
"I've been thinking," Justin began, choosing his words carefully. "Maybe we should keep our relationship lowkey for now."
Josh frowned, a little taken aback. "Why? Are you having second thoughts?"
"No, no, it's not that," Justin assured him. "I just think it might be better if we take things slow and keep it between us for now. We can enjoy our time together without any added pressure or questions from the others."
Josh considered this, then nodded. "You're right. Let's keep it lowkey. It'll be our little secret."
Justin smiled, relieved. "Thank you for understanding."
Josh took Justin's hand in his, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "As long as we're together, that's all that matters."
They spent the rest of the evening enjoying the peace and quiet, knowing they had each other and that was enough.
Their secret relationship added a new layer of excitement to their interactions. They shared knowing glances and stolen moments, savoring the privacy of their love. The group remained unaware, focused on enjoying their vacation and the bond of friendship that had brought them together.
