The group huddled under the table, their breaths shallow and hearts pounding. The room was eerily silent, except for the faint shuffling and groaning of the infectants outside.
Yoongi always being the observant one, whispered "Look, a window! We could escape from there."
The others followed his gaze and saw the small window on the far wall. It was their only chance.
"We need to plan this properly" Jin whispered "We have to be quick and quiet."
Joon nodded "Alright, I'll go first. When I give the signal, follow one by one."
When Joon took his first step, the floor produced a loud creak. Jin immediately shushed him but then they heard the unmistakable sound of many feet running toward them. They immediately knew the hordes were approaching.
When the infectants came to the spot, they saw no one there. One by one, the infectants started to leave, but the group remained tense and silent under the table.
Hoseok was unable to hold his anxiety and let out a deep yet loud sigh, due to which one of the infectants was alerted by the noise, but since it didn't find any of them, it started to leave as well.
"We need to be more careful! Let's wait a bit before we try again."
After what felt like an eternity, the sounds of the infectants faded into the distance. Joon signaled the others and they began to crawl silently from under the table.
Joon kept his eyes on the window while Jin, Yoongi and Hoseok scanned the room for any signs of danger.
Suddenly Joon spotted a large storage cabinet against the wall "Quick, hide behind there" he whispered, pointing to the cabinet.
They moved quickly and squeezed behind the cabinet, which offered just enough space to conceal them from view.
As they hid, they could hear the faint sounds of infectants still roaming outside.
Jin carefully peeked out and saw a clear path to the window "Okay, this is our chance. Joon, you go first. I'll throw something to create a distraction. When the infectants go to check it out, we make our move."
Joon nodded. Jin found a small metal can and threw it towards the opposite end of the room. The loud clanging sound echoed, and the infectants immediately moved toward the noise.
"Go, now!"
Joon quickly moved to the window, opening it just enough to slip through. He signaled the others. Yoongi followed, then Hoseok. Jin was the last to go, carefully closing the window behind him to avoid making any noise.
Outside, they found themselves in a narrow alleyway. They paused to catch their breath, grateful to be out of immediate danger.
"We need to keep moving. The infectants will be back soon."
They nodded and began to move quickly but carefully through the alleyways, sticking to the shadows and avoiding open spaces.
As they moved, Jin couldn't help but glance back at the warehouse they had just escaped from. Despite the danger, he felt a pang of guilt for leaving it behind. But he knew they had no choice - their survival depended on it.
But the only question that roamed in his mind was
'How did they came inside the warehouse? We have been leaving here for more than three weeks... What would have happened if Yoongi didn't brust on Hoseok? What would have happened if Hoseok didn't come to this room? ..... we could have died!!!!????'
Their sense of relief was short-lived when the group heard the growls and footsteps growing louder behind them.
"We need to move faster!" Joon tensed up "They're catching up."
The group broke into a run, their footsteps echoing through the deserted streets.
"Over there, we can hide there!" Jin shouted. But before they could reach it, the infectants were upon them.
"Run! Don't stop!" Yoongi yelled, glancing back at the rapidly approaching horde.
In the chaos, Hoseok tripped over a piece of pebble and fell hard to the ground. An infectant lunged at him, its jaws snapping dangerously close. Hoseok's eyes widened in terror as he struggled to get up.
"No!" Yoongi shouted, sprinting back to Hoseok. In a swift motion, he kicked the infectant away and helped Hoseok to stand "We need to go, now!"
Hoseok panted, his eyes filled with fear.
"Just keep moving!" Yoongi replied dragging Hoseok with him.
Suddenly Yoongi realized he had lost sight of Joon and Jin. Panic surged through him but he knew he had to stay strong for Hoseok. They couldn't afford to lose each other now.
"Where are Joon and Jin hyung?" Hoseok's voice trembled.
"I don't know but we can't stop. We need to find somewhere to hide" Yoongi said, scanning the area frantically.
Spotting a small alleyway nearby, Yoongi led Hoseok towards it.
They ducked into the alley, pressing themselves against the walls in an attempt to stay out of sight. The infectants rushed past the entrance, their low growls filling the air.
"We should be safe here for a moment" Yoongi whispered, trying to catch his breath.
Hoseok nodded, still shaken from the close call.
