The doorbell for her apartment rang. She wasn't supposed to have anyone coming, except for Jim her tutor writer that Ronald had told her she needed. Ever since coming to New York for these fantastic writing classes she had seemed to be failing, completely. Before she came to NY she was an excellent writer, atleast her family thought so, thats why they paid so much for her to come here. Ronald had told her numerous times that she needed to put more effort into her writing. Apparently Jim overheard and offered to give her some tips, as they did live in the same complex. Joyce couldnt turn down the offer especially with Ronald listening. He was an absolute genius in writing. Joyce had always admired his works. They had become friends. Good friends recently, they would get coffees every Sunday, and just talk. The brunette had almost been falling for him. He was so kind and so sweet; not to mention he was super hot.

She looked through the peep hole. It was Jim. For some reason in this light he looked so attractive. His eyes shined from the yellow light in the hall. His muscles could be seen through his sweater. She rolled her eyes to the back of her head. He is so hot. Another ring brought her back from her thoughts.
"Hi Jim!" She said lightly smiling, and opening the door.
"Hi Joyce. Sorry am I interrupting? I just came earlier because I-"
"No, no your good. I was just watching a movie until you got here!" The brunette walked over to her remote to turn her tv off. "Well come on, yoy are supposed to be giving me tips aren't you." She said as he was still standing in his boots and coat on her welcome mat. He chuckled while taking his boots off.
"So what do you think your struggling with?" He asked walking over to the counter where she sat.

She put the black pen to her lip. God she looked so beautiful when she was thinking. She would bite the top of the pen squinting or rolling her eyes to the back of her head, as if she was searching for an answer.
"I don't know." The brunette took the pen away from her lips.
"Well, Ronald told me that you seemed to have trouble expressing what you meant. Can I see what you have written for the assignment tomorrow?" Truth be told she had written a singular line. She did seem to struggle with saying what she meant or atleast adding details to it. The assignment was to write a poem about someone or something and their features. Like if you were to write about a white cabinet or Jim. No not Jim.
"Im embarrassed of it though." She said with a saddening smile.
"I wont Judge. Im here to help you remember? Im sure its not bad, your very talented Joyce."
His sweet comments always made her happier.
The only words written were

His hair, a golden halo bright,

Jim of course had no idea this was about him. Jim had seemed to learn a lot abour Joyce but she never had heard anything about him. Not only that but him coming to help her was the best.

"Its actually good. I recommend adding more details about the appearance."
"Show me yours." She said reaching for his papers.
"You can hear it tomorrow." He shoved the paper into his case.
They ended up talking for hours, about different peices they made. She even got him to break. Finally she had broken the wall and new more about him. It was 11 by the time they finished talking.
"Wow where has the time gone? I should leave now Joyce, but it was amazing to talk to you. I cant wait to hear your voice tomorrow." He said picking up his papers
"Yeah, me neither. Bye Jim."
She stayed up late that night, writing every word so perfectly, to impress him. To impress her self. To prove she could be a good writer. Unfortunately for her she is never good at waking up on time. From the power outage at 12 she never had time to reset her clock or set a new alarm. She woke up at 10:30. Class had started 30
minutes ago and she still had to catch the L train.

She rubbed her eyes open hitting her elbow on her bedside table.
"Ouch! God what time is it." She turned over to the clock. "Oh shit!" She said hitting the reset button to reveal the time as 10:34. She sloppily picked out a black skirt with white tights and black dolly heels. A nicely cream colored knit sweater on top. She quickly but calmy put on mascara and blush. And wrapped her papers back up in her case. Shit shit!
She made it to the L train just in time. When she left it was 10:44. 10 minutes, great!
She quickly nodded at the clerk as she headed ti the class.
"I am so sorry professor Ronald. I had a doctors appointment I forgot about." The brunette said as she opened the door. She smiled though it looked fake. Jim smiled softly at her.
"Oh well its alright. Its your turn to speak anyway." He said pointing to the stand. She smiled as she set her bag down at her feet at the stand.
