Chapter 1: Defense on Hoth

The skies above the Ice planet Hoth quickly filled with rebellion transports. Two incom T-70 X wings flew around each one as a defense in case they were attacked. Once Leia heard Snokes broadcast, she knew they had to come back to battle.In response, a distress call was sent to all available rebel veterans in the galaxy. A total of 10,000 troops showed up. One of them was actually a new recruit, the only one that hadn't fought with the alliance against the empire.

"This is Private Poe Dameron to General Leia Organa, we have successfully reached Hoth undetected. I repeat undetected."

Poe Dameron was a surprisingly skilled pilot. He was very light skinned and had messy black hair and a stubble beard. Leia had taken a liking to him because out of the other pilots she had seen,he was among the most skilled, but he had a charming cocky flyboy attitude she couldn't help but enjoy. He did have quite a checkered past, lots of spice running and smuggling, but as long as he was willing to be a part of the alliance and fight his best she would accept him.He even has his own personal X wing that he flew, and never missed an opportunity to use it. In fact he was gleeful at being told he could fly it to Hoth.

"Thanks for letting me know Poe, but keep your radar running in case any First order ships spot us. We are taking an awful risk coming back here." Leia said. She was aboard one of the transports watching the radars intently. The other rebels were doing recreational stuff among themselves but Leia wasn't paying any attention. She had a plan no doubt but it required making it to Hoth undetected.

"Listen general, you don't have to worry about a thing, we just got a brand new shipment of X wings on the way, and they're the good kind. No way the first order has anything these babys can't put a dent in, we'll be fine." Poe said confidently. A beep from his own personal BB unit rang through his cockpit in what sounded like disapproval. His name was BB8, he was a big ball with a half sphere on top. He and Poe have had a lot of good times together and he rides with him everywhere. "Hey watch it buddy, I won't be talked to like that by my own droid."

The transports entered the atmosphere and started flying towards the surface. There was snow and mountains as far as the eye could see. As they all flew closer to the base, Poe saw skeletons in coats as well as destroyed turrets, downed walkers, crashed airspeeders and the remains of the shield generator. Poe was disturbed by the wreckage but tried his best to keep things light.

"Guess they didn't bother cleaning up after themselves, you'd think stormtroopers could pick up a mop." Poe said in a joking voice which Leia didn't like. Leia remembered vividly the screams of the ground troops who fought there, and didn't appreciate Poe making fun of a battle she was personally at.

"Watch it, Poe, this battle isn't anything to laugh at." Leia said sternly.

"My apologies,general, just wanna keep things light. Can't start a rebellion when you're depressed." Poe said back. He and the other X wings landed in the hangar and the transports slowly followed. Wind howled outside and snow blew all around their transports. Poe still had his flight suit and helmet on which meant it was hard to put his coat on over it. He decided to wait in his cockpit until the rest of them had landed. About 30 transports finally landed around echo base, 10,000 total troops. It was going to be a very tight squeeze, but they had nowhere else to go. Thank goodness that echo base was big. They had held about 9,000 rebels before so an extra 1000 couldn't hurt.

Poe watched as they started unloading all of the people. Tons of rebel troops filed out of the transports, the sound of talking and laughter began filling the air as they stood outside the base in an array. Leia stood outside and made sure all of them got in lines. Suddenly the sky filled up as they saw about 40 X wings being delivered to the base, followed by an incom transport. The X wings landed next to the base and one of the incom guys got out of the transport with a pen and paper and Leia signed for the shipment. "Thank you so much for this, this is really going to help." Poe heard her say to the guy.
