— You're doing it again.

At the tone of Rosalie's voice, the accused looked at her through the mirror.

— I don't know what you're talking about — she murmured.

Rose sighed and approached, taking the comb and starting to pass it through Anneliese's brown mane.

— Ever since your fight with Edward, you've been zoning out. If you were human, I'd be paranoid, thinking you're depressed, but I'm worried that you're not aware you're using your powers.

— What? — she said, perplexed.

The blonde gently took her younger sister's hands, showing them to her through the mirror.

They had their characteristic black tone they took on when using her powers. It was a way her power manifested, whether it was umbrakinesis, negating, or replicating. It didn't matter which she used; her hands would always acquire those black shadows.

— I'm sorry. I haven't hurt anyone, have I? — Anneliese wanted to know, with a knot in her stomach.

— Of course not, Anne. You'd be incapable of hurting us, no matter how angry or sad you are. You would never hurt someone who didn't deserve it, not even Edward.

At the mention of him, the brunette lowered her gaze to the small hand mirror on the dresser.

— He was hurting himself. I just wanted to help him.

— I know, dear. Edward underwent a big change with the appearance of the human, and leaving her made everything worse. I must admit I don't like Isabella at all, but I'd rather have him with her if it means he won't act like a complete idiot — Anneliese smiled at the insult — Give it time. He'll realize his mistake and come to apologize.

— I won't forgive him easily.

— Of course not. Did you think I'd say you should forgive him easily?

Both laughed at that, and the blonde continued to comb the brunette's silky hair.

— Jasper and Alice want you to join them. You know, since he's studying Philosophy and knows you love reading, he thinks it'd be a good idea for you to accompany him in search of books, and Alice found out about a bookstore that has some very, very old ones, like from your century.

— Hey! Don't make me seem old. I'm only 327 years old — the blonde laughed.

— You'll turn 328 this year, but it's true, you're still very young — she joked — It's better you go, or Alice will come and change your outfit even if you're just going in search of old books.
