"All I ask is two moments of peace and silence before class." Her cold voice pleaded dangerously, blue eyes darting to the culprit of annoyance, projecting a dark glare.

Her fellow classmate stopped his motion the moment their eyes met, his mouth agape from being mid sentence. His hand hung in the air, showing her that he was mere centimeters away from poking her arm for the hundredth time.

His eyes widened. "Sorry Akira. . ." He chuckled nervously, his hand finding the back of his neck rather than her arm.

Akira hummed in acknowledgment of the hasty apology, her eyes drifting back to the material that sat before her. "If you have that much energy, Aido, you could always study. . . Like you're supposed to be doing."

"Huh - why would I be doing that!? I already know everything!"

She chuckled lightly, the sound almost melodic. A smirk slipped onto her face. "There's a distinct difference between actually knowing it all and being a know it all, I'm afraid."

Her words struck him, rendering Hanabusa speechless; there was only one other in the room who could do that. . . No one else came even close.

The only other one who could manage to silence the energetic vampire for the longest watched the interaction from afar, waiting to see if he needed to step in.

Seldomly did Akira get into physical altercations, instead preferring to wield her words like a sword, slashing the ego's of those who irritated or defied her. . . But on the very rare occasion she got physical, Kaname or Akatsuki were there to remove her from the situation. . . Even then, it was long before they began attending the academy.

"Would it kill you to be nice to him?" Shiki questioned from over her shoulder.

"Just as it would kill him to leave my side for longer than absolutely necessary - yes. Yes, it would." Akira replied.

Senri plucked the open book from beside her, bringing it into his line of sight properly - it was a book from her vast 'to be read' list. It was far from study material, but he wouldn't say anything. "I would ask if there was something between the two of you, but you've been this way since we were children."

"You never know." She hummed, turning back to look at him as he examined the third romance novel she was reading that week. "It could be a ruse to hide the love we so desperately share."

He looked at her with a shocked expression on his face. "Is it?"

Akira laughed, holding her hand out. "No. . . But you never know."

Senri shook his head and sighed, passing the book back over into her awaiting hand. "You read too many romance novels."

She shrugged and faced her materials, just in time for the sun to set. Perhaps it was true. Maybe she did read too many romance novels. . . But she loved the idea of love.

Having someone love her despite her meticulously hidden flaws.

Loving someone so deeply that it drowned any pain she may have endured. . . It drew her in like a sweet sirens song. It was alluring and terrifying at the same time.

Yet she knew there was always the possibility she wouldn't have it. . . And maybe some part of her was completely alright with that.

The screaming on the other side of the gate was getting to be too much for Akira's overly sensitive ears.
She would've thought that due to it being near the end of the school year, the novelty of the Night Class students would've worn off. . . That they'd be able to peacefully go to class like normal people.

The simple thought flew out the window the moment the gates creaked open and the yelling got louder.

"It won't be long now." Ruka commented from her right side, sensing the way Akira almost physically recoiled from the Day Class students as the gate opened completely with an extended creak and a thud.

Akira hummed in agreement as they began walking to their class.
Just before she could regard Takuma to her left, Aido cut between the two of them, pushing Akira back just to get more attention from his fans.

Strong arms stopped her from stumbling. She could tell just by the smell that enveloped her senses with a feeling of warmth, that it was Senri who stopped her from falling onto the rough stone ground.

She knew Hanabusa pushing her was payback for her verbal 'attack' earlier. . . She also knew it would be Kaname or Akatsuki who would reprimand him once they reached their destination. They always looked out for her - ever since they were children.

"Don't do anything you'd regret." He whispered in her ear coolly.

Akira sighed, hating the way he always turned stoic the moment he was faced with the world outside of the dorm where he kept her company while she studied or blew through the latest novel she was reading. . . Then again, she was similar.

She didn't have many emotional attachments, seeing them as weaknesses that made her vulnerable in the eyes of potential enemies. . . Which made her exterior look cold and detached, when she truly cherished the few bonds she had, as they were the ones who hadn't picked on her as a child.

"I'm not going to do anything." She replied, forcing herself out of his grasp. "Not today, at least. I'm not stupid." Akira muttered, catching back up with Ruka - her first friend.

"Are you alright?" Ruka questioned, placing her hand on her friend's arm.

"Yes, I'm perfectly fine." She replied coolly, keeping her chin up as they all got closer to the entrance.

The moment the Night Class was safely inside the building, Aido fell back and joined her side, just as she knew he eventually would. . . They were friends but their relationship was a constant string of petty arguments and retaliation.

Akira looked up at him and crossed her arms over her chest, stopping in her tracks, allowing the others to pass around her. "You weren't very kind to me back there. We may have our own way of dealing with our differences in our friendship, but I don't appreciate being shoved." She stated.

Aido turned to face her with wide eyes. "I realized after - I. . . I'll make it up to you!"

"I'm sure you will."
