Chapter 2: Invitation

'this can't be happening..'

I glanced at my pulse once again, trying to process what I just did..

"Naglaslas ako.." I whispered as horror was drawn all over my face. I was just trying to wake up from this nightmare, both of my hands are wounded because I tried cutting myself with a small blade..

'it aches.. my wrist hurts from the cut. My wounds ache so bad.'

I was anxious, terror ate my whole system. I can't even think straight because of the fact that I'm stuck in a book. 'what the fuck did I just do?'

I'm a lawyer for God's sake! But I failed to control my emotions, hindi ko alam kung pro-problemahin ko pa ba kung nasaan ako ngayon or ma d-dissapoint nalang ako sa sarili ko for failing one of the simplest things a lawyer should obtain. To keep calm.

Kailan lang kase ay nag undergo ako ng therapy because of depression, I have handled major cases straight all throughout the year and those heavy cases caused me severe stress.

One time my client attempted suicide and even accused me for my poor performance.  Another client tried to kill me..

Alam kong mamamatay si Cassandra sa kwento, ngunit hindi parin talaga nag pro-proseso sa utak ko ang lahat... Maaaring hindi pa talaga ako tuluyang naka recover sa therapy ko that's why I'm a little paranoid.

"Princess Cassandra! Oh dear-" Napaigtad ako nang marinig ang isang sigaw. A maid approached me as she looked terrified at my bleeding wrist.

"I'll call the duke, lady please be strong!" Anito. Maybe because I lost too much blood, I started feeling weak. My vision got blurry.. all I remember is the maid screaming for help.

"How is she?.." malalim akong huminga habang dinadama ang kirot sa ibat ibang parte ng aking katawan. Saglit pa nang maaninag ko na ang paligid, White ceiling, white wall..

'I'm at the hospital?'

"The princess will be alright, she needs extra care for her body is weak because of blood loss and she's still just recovering from amnesia. Also, she's been suffering from a severe headache these past few days.. we're still working on the possible illness. As of now, she's totally fine, she just needs some rest." Sagot naman ng Hindi pamilyar na boses. I heard a closing door, and I felt a strong aura sitting near me.

Tinignan ko ito, he's gaze is still blank, emotionless, detached..

"You need to rest" anito sa mababang boses. "I won't ask why you did that to yourself, just don't do it again." I can't tell if he's angry or concerned, every word he says is firm..

He stood, ready to leave the room when I asked a sudden question. "Are you going to kill me in the future?.." he freezes on his spot, his hand holding the doorknob. He didn't respond, it took him a few minutes before opening the door, leaving me hanging.

It's been three days since I got discharged from the hospital, I'm now getting close to my maid Aiah and I've found out about Cassandra's history.

Cassandra was planned to be married to one of the Warner brothers when she was still 5, either Arius or Leoshi.. and now it turns out that the grand duke Arius will be his future husband. In fact, their parents are already planning their wedding..

It's already a month since Cassandra started living in the palace with the duke. But nothing changes, he still doesn't like her, and he will never like her..

I feel pity for Cassandra, she's rich, gorgeous, and intelligent. Yet it's not her fault she turned into a villain.. Since she was a child, she's always been compared to her older brother, she was abused by her own parents.. that's why she turned greedy, everything that Cassandra wants, she gets.
