It had been a couple of months since their grueling training sessions began, and the mansion was bustling with a different kind of energy. Arika, Sukuna, and Yuji were in the middle of a break when their mother entered the room, her presence commanding their attention immediately."Children, we have an important business party to attend this weekend," she announced. The children exchanged glances, a mixture of curiosity and apprehension in their eyes.
Arika was the first to speak up. "Do we have to go, Mama?"
Their mother nodded, her expression serious. "Yes, it's important for you to start understanding the world we are part of. This party will be a good opportunity for you to observe and learn."
The kids nodded, their minds already buzzing with questions about what to expect.
---
The days leading up to the party passed in a blur of training, study sessions, and anticipation. The children were curious about what the event would entail, but their parents kept most details under wraps. The night before the party, they could hardly sleep, their minds filled with thoughts of the unknown event.
---
On the day of the party, the air was thick with a mixture of excitement and tension. The children dressed in their finest clothes, their outfits carefully chosen by their mother to reflect both elegance and subtle authority. As they stepped out of the mansion, they were greeted by the sight of their tutors-Maki, Yuta, Rei, and Renjiro-standing by the cars, looking rather intimidating in their formal attire.
Yuji, always the curious one, couldn't help but ask, "Are you guys coming with us too?"
Renjiro nodded, a small smirk playing on his lips. "Yes, but not as guests. We'll be your bodyguards for the night. Our job isn't just to teach you but also to protect you."
Arika and Sukuna exchanged glances, feeling a sense of security knowing their tutors would be with them.
As they approached the cars, their father gave them a reassuring nod. "Remember, stay close and follow our lead."
The seating arrangement was set. In the first car, the driver sat up front with their father next to him, while their mother, Yuji, and Renjiro occupied the back seat. In the second car, Yuta was in the front passenger seat, with Maki holding Arika in her lap, and Rei and Sukuna sitting in the back. Two additional cars flanked them, one in the front and one at the back, forming a convoy.
The drive began smoothly, the city lights casting a glow on the sleek cars as they made their way through the streets.
Suddenly, a deafening explosion shattered the tranquility of the night. The car in the very front of the convoy was engulfed in flames, the shockwave rocking the other vehicles.
"GET DOWN!" Yuta yelled, his voice cutting through the chaos as he alerted Arika and Maki . Panic and confusion erupted as the convoy screeched to a halt.
Every second stretched into an eternity. The initial explosion sent a fiery plume into the night sky, lighting up the surroundings with a hellish glow. The shockwave hit their car next, flipping it over as if it were a toy. The world spun wildly, a cacophony of metal crunching, glass shattering, and screams filling the air.Yuta, with his military training kicking in, immediately grabbed Arika and shielded her with his body. He pushed open the car door with all his might and managed to pull her out. "Stay low, Aka-chan, stay low!" he shouted, his voice barely audible over the chaos.Rei, on the other side, was fighting his own battle. Sukuna had been thrown against the door, dazed and bleeding from a cut on his forehead. "Sukuna, stay with me!" Rei yelled, shaking the boy to keep him conscious. He forced the door open and pulled Sukuna out, just as the smell of gasoline reached them. They stumbled away from the wreck, both covered in minor cuts and bruises.Maki, however, wasn't as fortunate. She had shielded Arika during the crash, and in doing so, had taken the brunt of the impact. Her arms and legs were covered in cuts, and shards of glass were embedded in her skin. Despite the pain, she tried to crawl out of the car. When it was her turn to come out, her long hair got tangled in the twisted metal of the seat frame."Maki, hurry!" Yuta yelled, realizing they were running out of time. He could hear the faint ticking of another bomb inside their car, a chilling countdown to doom.Maki's eyes widened in panic. She pulled desperately at her hair, but it wouldn't budge. "No, no, no!" she muttered under her breath, the sense of urgency growing. With no other option, she reached for the knife strapped to her thigh. In one swift motion, she cut through her hair, freeing herself just in time.As she tumbled out of the car, she barely made it a few steps before the vehicle exploded behind her. The force of the blast threw her forward, sending her crashing to the ground. She lay there, gasping for breath, pain radiating through her body, but alive.
---
From the other overturned car, Renjiro emerged, blood dripping from a gash on his forehead. He looked around, his eyes narrowing as he took in the chaotic scene. Ignoring his own injuries, he rushed to help Yuji and their parents out of the wreck.
Renjiro pulled the door open and found Yuji unconscious but alive, cradled protectively in their mother's arms. Their father was slumped over, lifeless. The realization hit Renjiro like a punch to the gut, but he pushed it aside. There was no time to grieve.
"Ma'am, we need to get you out of here... Please , hurry. " Renjiro urged, reaching for their mother. She looked up at him, her face pale and etched with pain. She shook her head slightly.
"Ren... I-l c-can't go... I'm sorry.
I can't go, i can't feel my legs," she whispered, her voice quivering. She handed Yuji over to him, her hands trembling. "Take care of them. Protect them... AT ANY COST." A string of tear slid down her cheek.Renjiro's eyes widened with horror as he understood the full extent of her injuries. He gripped her hand tightly, his own voice breaking. "Ma'am, please..."
But before he could say more, another explosion ripped through the air. The second car went up in flames, engulfing the area in a fiery inferno.
Renjiro staggered back to the rest of the group, cradling the unconscious Yuji in his arms. His face was ashen, the gravity of the situation weighing heavily on his shoulders. The others looked at him, their expressions mirroring the grim reality that had just unfolded. They all stood there, a silent vigil to the roaring inferno that had once been their cars and, for some, their last moments with loved ones. The flames danced against the backdrop of the night, casting eerie shadows on their faces. The fire crackled and hissed, an unsettling soundtrack to the chaos. It was a moment suspended in time, where the only sounds were the roaring blaze and their own labored breathing. The air was thick with the scent of burning metal and smoke, a harsh reminder of the violence that had just erupted. As if the universe itself mourned the loss, the sky opened up. Rain began to fall in fat, heavy droplets, sizzling as they hit the flames. The water seemed to mock their efforts, a futile attempt to extinguish the firestorm. It mingled with the blood and dirt on their skin, washing away the grime but not the pain.
In that suspended moment, with the rain pouring down and the fire roaring in defiance, a sudden, sharp crack pierced the night.A gunshot.
