The 11 Year Old Killer - Mary Bell

Mary Bell was an 11 year old girl born May 26th, 1958 in New Castle in England.

Mary Bell had a really rough childhood. Her mother gave birth to her when she was only 17, so she couldn't afford to take care of a child and she was also on drugs.

So because of that she turned to prostitution, she was working 7 days a week mostly out of their own home. Sometimes she would go away for work and she would be gone for weeks at a time and Mary was just left to fend for herself right from being a toddler. Mary was also sexually abused by her mother's clients and even her mother herself.

When Mary was just a baby, her mother threw her out a second story window and tried to kill her. Luckily she survived but she was really injured she was in the hospital for months and probably very traumatized. There was also another incident where Mary's mother was seen feeding Mary sleeping pills and saying it was candy when she was just a toddler, again trying to kill her own daughter.

The area Mary lived was also really dangerous, most people that were living there were prostitutes or criminals as well as sex offenders. But despite this Mary and all the other neighbor kids as young as toddlers were just left to play out on the street from morning until night unsupervised, it wasn't uncommon for them to still be out there at midnight in the pitch black.

All the other neighbor kids described Mary to have a quick temper, one minute she'd be fine and then next she'd get aggressive and violent for no reason. And because of that all the other kids were terrified of Mary and would run away if they saw her. And it was really scary when this little girl would get violent. One girl remembers a time that Mary was on top of a girl in the playground strangling her, her face was going purple, her lips were blue, Mary was almost strangling her to death. But luckily an older boy saw this happening and broke it up before anything severe happened.

And the teachers knew this was going on, kids would come up to them saying Mary put a cigarette out on them or she strangled them, she even broke an older boys arm at one point. And Mary would even be violent with the teachers, she would throw things at them or yell at them but nothing was ever done and Mary only continued to get worse.
