apartment complex !

Kaia Diaz walked into her apartment complex, having just got off the bus. her day at school had been a roller coaster

the nickname 'crazy kaia' was back, which was torture, and kenny and her werent on speaking terms anymore.

so the girl couldnt help letting out a small sigh of relief as she walked through the complex, just happy to be out of school

as the diaz turned to the right to walk to her apartment, johnny lawrence stopped her. "hey, hot-shot !" he called

kaia turned around at that all familiar nickname, johnny had given it to her the first time miguel took her to cobra kai ( when johnny still ran it ) and she spent the entire practice nonstop punching one of the punching bags

"you hear about tonight? im gonna kick larussos ass!" johnny told her, continuing to punch the air to warm up

kaia had heard nothing about that. "um no, but sounds interesting. can i watch?" she asked, since he would be her ride if anything

johnny nodded, "of course you can. ill show you real karate" he informed her, making kaia half smile. "tell me if this move looks cool"

lawrence then went and did a side kick and then a roundhouse kick, once he was done he looked over at kaia for her answer. "super cool" she told him

"do you like karate, hot-shot?" johnny asked, while kicking and punching to make a sequence of attack.

kaia nodded her head, "i like karate. punching someone is always fun." she shrugged, taking a sip from her water bottle

johnny let her words sink in. "thats true." he agreed, johnny loved punching people. especially the ones who deserved it

as silence fell over, kaia dropped her bag on the door mat and walked over to johnny's side of the complex, taking a seat on the chair infront of his apartment

as johnny continued to practice, he kept conversing with kaia. "were you at the drive in last night ?" he asked, still a little bitter about miguels choice

kaia nodded, "yeah. i still think they should've fought. all they did was provoke cobra kai, now they're just waiting to do something worse."

johnny stopped training, looking at kaia with a new look. he was surprised that the young girl thought the same way he did. "thats what i said"

lawrence gained a new respect for kaia, like she knew how cobra kai thought. "im surprised you havent started karate yet" he thought out loud

kaia shrugged, like she never really considered it. "it's always been miguels thing, and i didnt want another scenario im in miguels shadow."

not only did the words sting johnny, but they also stung kaia. the girl hadnt actually taken any time to consider why she never picked up the sport

the younger diaz could throw a mean punch, and loved watching the fights, why couldnt she be in one?

johnny sighed, "listen, kid. when i kick daniels ass tonight, everyone will be learning eagle fang, and i want you there, learning."

kaia looked up at the man, her eyes wide in shock. "seriously?" she asked him. kaia and johnny never had the bond he and miguel did, yet they were always around each other

it was like everyone was so blinded by miguel that kaia was invisible, and only now was kaia realizing that.

"i wont let you be in his shadow anymore, i know what thats like." johnny told her truthfully, he had been in daniels shadow ever since the all valley
