"Hey, I wasn't sure what you were in the mood for today, so I brought you black coffee; It's iced," Camila smiles, as she hands over a drink to a stunned Lauren. The green-eyed girl had been walking out of her flat when Camila caught up to her on Monday morning.
"Camz? What are you- what are you doing here?"
"Walking you to class? That's what you wanted, right?" Camila asks, with a grin.
"Uh, I mean, yeah? But on Saturday you-"
"I wasn't feeling good, I swear. I'm better now. Gotta stop letting Ally fill me up with whiskey."
Lauren sort of laughs, still unsure as to why Camila is there, and apparently, happy.
"Yeah."
"Did you do that assignment for our class tomorrow, I tried to finish it last night, but I could not get my brain to work. It was awful" Camila attempts changing the subject.
"Yeah, I did. Do you want to look at mine for some inspiration?
"No it's alright. I'll finish it tonight after practice."
Lauren casually strolls alongside Camila, sipping her coffee, "You know Camz, I just want to...I want to say I'm sorry. If I upset you at all this past weekend, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."
Camila frowns at the apology, "Lo, I promise I'm fine. I love you, you're my best friend. And girlfriend," Camila winks, playfully.
"Right. Sometimes I forget about that, that we're pretending."
Did Lauren just imply that she sometimes thinks they're really dating? Or is she finally losing her mind? Either way, she can't go there.
"We're just close friends like that. Always have been."
Lauren smirks, "It is pretty crazy to think about the fact that you've been there for me since day one. Like, I don't know what I would have done if you weren't there."
"I'm sure it would have been fine."
"Camz," Lauren asserts, "It may have been a lot of things, but it wouldn't have been fine. Not without you."
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
Her heart is erratic within her ribcage, beating incessantly in her chest. Friends. Just friends.
"You don't know what you do to me," Camila whispers, which causes a curious reaction from Lauren.
"What, Camz?"
"Oh, nothing. We're at your class anyway, and I should probably get ready for practice. Do you want me to pick you up too, or are you okay by yourself?" Camila asks.
"I think I'm alright today. No one's bothered me so far."
"Okay, talk to you later."
Lauren waves, "Bye, Camz."
As she races back to her flat, she clutches at her chest. That was too close for comfort.

"I told you Mani has the best connections. I don't know why you never listen to me," Ally snaps at Dinah, as Camila joins them on the football field.
"What's up?"
"Oh, nothing," Ally answers. "Just wondering why Dinah never believes me."
"Dinah doesn't believe anything until it's shoved in her face."
