Recap
“father he killed the men” I had wept, my father had looked up at the Warlock for an explanation.
“Cornelius, as you know there has never been a female ever born to a king or if there has they have all died in infancy. So you daughter as it is, is very special she has been gifted to see the life of her mate before they even meet. It is like a defence mechanism she finds her mate he protects her it is an endowment that only a royal can poses, but when they do convene and their eyes meet he will know that the women that stands before him is his women.”
Chapter 3 Touch
I descended the stairs of my tower walking down the stone steps as slowly as I could; prolonging the moment I clutched my dress holding it up slightly so that my toes were visible in my leather sandals, my hair cascaded down my back is soft mahogany curls, the jewel of Eldasar a diamond the size of my fist with a red ruby imbedded in its heart rested in the middle of my breasts, the red of the ruby parallel to my lips, I had deep blue eyes almost navy. My father would say I looked a lot like my mother but I had his hair which was apparently my best featured according to him. It had been five years now that my father and I had been living without my mother and eight brothers, as they were ripped from our lives each day got harder living without them, the pain grew worse through the years but it got easier to handle it. It had been five years that I hadn’t dreamed about the boy I would wake up every night for an entire year screaming from the nightmares, which was his life he would kill people every day. My father had had enough he had gotten the warlock to make me a potion that I drank every night so that I would have dreamless nights and that was when I had began to loathe the once gentle boy.
I stood in front of the doors that led to the main hall, two guards stepped forward bowing to me then opening the wooden doors I stepped in to the main hall as I walked down the carpeted floor to my father’s throne I was curtseyed by the many people surrounding the hall that had gathered to invite the great General home from his many victories over the year. My father stood up from his throne as I stopped in front of him I was about to curtsey him when his frail old hands got hold of my shoulders, he lifted my chin up so that I was looking at his face that had weathered over the years he had let himself go after my mother’s death but he always tried to stay strong for me and I loved him so much for that. He got hold of me hugging me to him “sweetheart you don’t have to see him if you don’t want to, I don’t mind in the slightest I love you just the same” he kissed my forehead still holding me against him waiting for an answer.
“Father I have prolonged this moment for too long, I will have to confront him one day or another it should be today as it is the day I first lost him” I spoke into his chest his arms tightened around me.
“Sweetheart, you know I’m going to be standing right next you. You have nothing to worry about my brave daughter” he kissed my forehead once again then pulling away sitting me down on my throne that sat by his.
We heard them marching of soldiers stop outside the castle people started to shirt and mumble amongst themselves in excitement, the noble single women had placed themselves at the front of the crowd they were dressed in their finest clothing which was revealing a lot of cleavage, I sighed at their excitement the General it seemed was immune to any womanly flattery. He would not engage in any pleasure all he did was battle and train it was rumoured he never drank, and as a women that use to dream about him I had never seen him touch a drop of wine but that had been five years ago his habits might have changed. The doors that I had shortly entered was pushed wide open and the figures of the castle guards were marching in four of them stood near the door blowing trumpets one of them stepped forward bowing to my father and I, “Your majesty it gives me great pleasure to welcome back our General Marcus Dean Phoenix, from his victorious battles. General!” The man yelled, and that was when he stepped from around the corner walking in to our view my father and I rose from our thrones, my breath coming short he looked bigger than ever not a single scratch on his beautiful face, he didn’t look at all like he had come from a battle. He was looking around the room gazing open everyone in it, his gaze emotionless it looked like he was sniffing the air his expression turning cures I quickly cast my eyes down as his gaze came to me. I could see his feet halter for amount as his eye were on my he dropped down to his knees bowing his head to my father and I. My father moved to stand before him placing his hand on the Generals shoulder, “stand up son, your home now and you bow to know one. We are indebted to you with our lives what is it you wish for your reward?” The General stood up towering over my father,
“I do not wish for a thing your majesty, just a piece of quite outside the kingdom where I can farm for a while” he sighed looking down at me again I cast my eyes away not wanting his to meet mine.
“Of course son that will be arranged instantly, but until that is arranged I would greatly oblige for you to stay at the castle” he nodded his head turning toward me taking a step in front of me. I had hold of my breath, my heart racing and my eyes down cast. I was regretting the decision; I was not ready to face him I couldn’t let him look into my eyes the warlocks words rising fear in me, I couldn’t let him realise that I was his mate, I wasn’t ready to love a killer.
“A princess as beautiful as your self should not shy away” he placed his hands over mine, a spark of warmth ran up my arm directly to my heart he gasped holding my hand in both of his, a halo of warmth spread around us the first time I felt some peace in heart. He let one of his hands move away from mine lifting it to my face wrapping it around my check, he lifted my face so he could look into my eyes but I refused to meet his. “Please, look at me” he whispered holding my check ever so gently his voice sounded so soft and distressing, that I couldn’t take it anymore I looked up into his stormy grey eyes.
