Circe
📍los Angeles
The sun was beginning its descent, casting a golden hue over the sprawling city of Los Angeles. The sky was a canvas painted in shades of orange, pink, and purple, as if signaling a warm welcome to newcomers Sabrina and Circe Blackmen. As they navigated the busy streets, the sounds of the bustling city filled the air with an undeniable energy. Car horns honked, street vendors called out their sales pitches, and the chatter of pedestrians melded into a symphony of city life.
"Wow, this place is something else," Circe breathed, her eyes wide as she took in the towering skyscrapers, the eclectic mix of architecture, and the colorful murals that adorned many of the buildings. "It's so different from Philly."
Sabrina glanced at her daughter with a smile. "It sure is, sweetheart. But different can be good. It's a new adventure, a fresh start."
Circe nodded, although her heart was a fluttering mix of excitement and anxiety. The move had been a big decision for both of them, one they had made after countless discussions and sleepless nights. Leaving behind everything familiar was daunting, but Los Angeles promised opportunities and possibilities that their hometown could not.
"Do you think we'll like it here?" Circe asked, a hint of uncertainty in her voice as she leaned back in her seat, the palm trees lining the streets casting fleeting shadows over her face.
"I think we'll thrive here," Sabrina replied confidently. "We needed a change, especially after... everything."
Circe nodded again, her thoughts drifting to the memories of her father. It had been three years since he passed away, but the pain of losing him was still a raw wound. Philadelphia was filled with memories of him, and though she cherished those moments, they were also a constant reminder of their loss. Moving to Los Angeles was as much about finding new beginnings as it was about healing old scars.
"Remember Philadelphia?" Circe's voice was softer now, introspective.
"How could I forget?" Sabrina's tone matched her daughter's, filled with warmth and an undercurrent of melancholy. "Your father loved that city. But he'd want us to be happy, to keep moving forward."
"I know," Circe whispered, looking out the window with a wistful smile. "I just... miss him."
Sabrina reached over and squeezed Circe's hand gently. "I miss him too, darling. Every day. But he's always with us, in our hearts and in our memories. And I believe he'd be proud of us for making this move, for being brave."
Circe felt a lump in her throat, but she swallowed it down, drawing strength from her mother's unwavering support. Sabrina had always been her rock, her guiding star. They had been through so much together, and this new chapter was just another part of their journey.
"So, what do you want to do first?" Sabrina asked, her voice brightening as they turned down Sunset Boulevard, the lights of the iconic strip beginning to flicker to life in the evening dusk.
