Never thought about toying with this side of Owen before. Very interesting.

*.*

You slammed the door to the bungalow, storming off to your car. To say you were pissed was an understatement; you were downright furious. You swung the car door open, climbed in, and shut the door forcefully.

Owen came flying out of the bungalow. He frantically waved his arms at you. "(Y/N), if we could just talk about this for a minute-"

"Leave me alone, Owen," you shouted back and started the car. He backed off, seeing that he couldn't say anything that could change your mind right now. You were too upset at the moment.

You drove your car away from the small house and towards the park. You found your body immediately guiding you to the raptor's pen. You looked out into the trees that were darkened by the cool night. The stars twinkled above you as you drove off to see the girls.

You and Owen had been together for two years now, two long but very wonderful years. You had watched his girls grow up with him and fallen in love with the raptors just as much as he had. You'd moved in together about five months ago and you had loved every bit of it until now.

You found your hands tightening on the wheel as you thought about Owen. You were trying to calm your nerves, not make things worse. You took deep breaths and focused on the road.

You parked the car in the dirt and climbed out. No one else was around, just you. You let yourself into the safety cage with a quiet clanging noise. Blue, who seemed to be a bit more attached to you than the others did, shot up from her sleep with a light growl. "Shhh, Blue, it's just me," you said and reached a hand through the bars. Blue sauntered over and placed her snout against your hand. "Hey girl," you quietly cooed.

You stepped back and opened the second gate, letting yourself into the pen. Blue was instantly by your side. You walked over and leaned against the wall, plopping down into the dirt after sliding down the wall. Blue lied down beside you and placed her head in your lap, almost sensing that you needed some comfort.

"Oh, Blue, what am I going to do with him?" you sighed as you pet her neck calmly. Charlie soon came over as well, being the only other raptor awake in the cage. She sat beside you and watched you. "Well, hello Charlie," you greeted with a smile. "I was just asking Blue what she thinks I should do with Owen." Charlie made a small noise, as if she was asking what had happened to their alpha. "Well, he told me tonight that he was feeling guilty and wanted to be honest with me. Owen kissed another girl a few nights ago right outside this pen, can you believe that?" Blue hummed quietly. "I know! And I don't know what to do about it."

Meanwhile, Owen was following your car tracks to the raptor pen. He parked his motorcycle next to your car and walked over, seeing that the gate between the safety cage and the pen was open. He knew you were here.

He quietly let himself into the safety cage and stood against the wall, trying to listen for you.

"And I know that he's a great guy, he really is, but it hurt me that he'd do something like that. I love him so much that sometimes it scares me. What if he meets a prettier girl? What if, one day, he decides he can get better, which I know he can?" Charlie rumbled lightly. "You said it, girl. I don't want to leave him like this. We've been together for two years. Sure, we've had our problems, but think of all of the great memories we've made." Owen carefully looked around the corner to see you slumped against the wall with Charlie and Blue. Blue looked up at you and nudged you.

"It's different for raptors. Once you guys find a mate, that's it. You're in it for life. Owen and I are different. My heart keeps telling me he's the one, but I just don't know. I don't want to give up on him. He says he still loves me, but is that the truth? What's going to stop him from doing something like this again?" Blue seemed to glare up at you. "Oh, don't look at me like that. I know you think Owen and I are mates, and sometimes, I wish we were. Maybe it would be easier that way. God, listen to me. I'm sitting here with you two, talking about my problems with dinosaurs. I've officially lost it."

You looked back at Blue, who was getting drowsy in your lap. Charlie leaned against you. "What do you think, Charlie? Does he deserve a second chance?" Owen was still in shock over everything. It was hitting him all at once that he might actually lose you. He loved you so much that the thought of losing you was making his spirit crumble. He needed to play the casual card in order to fix this correctly.

Charlie gave a murmur to you. Her eyes landed on something past you. You turned and saw Owen leaning on the wall next to you, arms crossed and giving a small smile. You smiled weakly in reply. "Hey," you said quietly. You didn't want to wake Blue.

"Hi," he said and pushed off from the wall. Charlie seemed to scoot over kindly for him. Owen sat between you and Charlie against the wall.

"How much of that did you actually hear?"

"Enough," he replied. You looked at Blue quietly. "Babe, if I could take it all back, I would. The last thing I wanted to do was hurt you."

"Why'd you do it?" you asked. He gave a heavy sigh.

"It was a stupid heat of the moment decision. The dinosaur was coming after us, I kissed her, but after I did, all I could think about was you and your beautiful smile and your sweet voice and how much I missed you," he confessed as he laid a hand on Charlie. You kept your gaze on Blue. "Can I please have that second chance?"

You were quiet for a few minutes. You traced the scales of Blue gently and thought about everything you'd told the raptors. You still loved Owen, and that seemed to be the boldest thought in your mind.

"One chance," you finally said and looked at him. His eyes lit up and he smiled. Blue purred happily in your lap. "But that's it, Owen Grady. Screw up again and it's all over." Owen reached forward and kissed your cheeks gently.

"I love you so much, (Y/N)," he whispered against your lips before kissing you. Charlie made a small noise as you both smiled at her. "I agree, Charlie."

"What's that?" you asked with a small laugh.

"Charlie thinks we should get married," Owen said and turned to you. Well that certainly was unexpected, but you smiled nonetheless.

"And what do you think?"

"I think a man should always listen to his girl, or girls, in this case," Owen said as he looked at you and Blue and gave you that flirtatious smile. "Although, his female does have the final say." You laughed and leaned your head onto his shoulder.

"Then I would say we just got engaged."
