NEW YORK CITY WAS THE sleepless city. Which in return made its residence become sleepless people. Occupying the streets in all hours of the night. Calliope Arias being one of those people. Dressed in all black to blend in with the night. A bottle of cheap whiskey wrapped in a brown paper bag, clutched in her right hand loosely as she finally prepared to go back to her crappy apartment. Dried blood on the side of her cheek from where it splattered from the man whose nose she broke before she strung him up on the side of the building, all ready for the cops to get arrest him. Her fingerless gloves also having some of the man's blood on them. Her twin sai tucked away from view in her belt.

She took a large gulp of the alcohol as she rounded a corner. Spotting her apartment building and jogging up to it. She rolled her eyes when she heard her neighbours upstairs already arguing with one another as she climbed up the stairs; the elevator was still broken, the landlord clearly not bothering at all.

As soon as Calliope stepped into her apartment. She felt off. The hair on the back of her neck standing upright as she walked in as casually as she could. Not wanting to give it away that she knew someone was already inside. She closed the door behind herself and walked into the living room, grabbing one of her sai's and throwing it towards where she knew her swivel chair was. She heard the sword flying through the air before embedding itself into the wall just as she flicked the lights on.

"Impressive," The man said, turning the chair around to come face-to-face with Calliope.

Calliope instantly recognised him. Nick Fury. The man that had tried to recruit her many, many times already. Wanting her to work alongside the man they trained up as Agent Zero.

She rolled her eyes. Slamming the whiskey bottle down on her desk before she flopped on her couch. Folding her arms across her chest as she looked, "What do you want?"

"Hello to you too," Fury said sarcastically.

When Calliope didn't respond he let out a sigh and pushed himself forward, placing his hands on the desk and looking much more serious.

"I'm here because I need your help."

"Again? How many times do I have to turn you down for you to get the message?"

"This is much more important than the rest," He told her, "That's why I'm here and not someone else."

Calliope pursed her lips as she observed Fury's face. He looked more stressed than she had seen him before. A deep frown on his lips. Lines on his forehead from stress.

"So, what is it this time then?" She asked curiously.

"We're recruiting a team--"

"A team?" She raised a brow, scoffing slightly, "Of what? Superheroes?" She asked mockingly.

"More or less," Fury shrugged. He reached into his trench coat, pulling out a handful of files and throwing them down onto the desk.

Curiously, Calliope stood up and walked over towards him, "Get out of my seat now," She ordered. Much to her surprise, he complied and stood up, allowing her to walk over to it. She pulled her sai out of the wall and placed it down on the desk when she sat down. Grabbing the files and flicking through them.

Some of the files were on other people. Natasha Romanoff. Steve Rogers. Bruce Banner. Clint Barton. Billy Raven. Tony Stark. There was even a file on herself, surprisingly knowing about her more than anyone in her own life did.

"So, who the hell is this Loki guy then?" She asked, reading about what the mission involved. Needing to find the Tesseract and take it back from this man, before he decided to use it on the whole world. Calliope didn't know much about the Tesseract, but she knew that if that thing was in the wrong hands, things would certainly become very dangerous for everyone.

"He's a God."

"A God? Sure," She nodded, unconvinced.

"It's not a joke, Domino. If you agree to the terms, we'll fill you in with it all," He reached into his pocket, pulling out a small business card and sliding it across the table. A date, time and address written on it.

His hands then began to gather the files from her, sending her a pointed look when she refused to let go of them. She sighed and released her grip, almost sending Fury backwards. He quickly regained his balance and shoved the files back into the inside of his jacket. Looking at her with his one good eye. His posture stiff. Distress radiating off of him in waves no matter how much he tried to hide it.

Fury gave her a nod, "I hope you agree this time. The world needs you."
