Captain Lewis handed Hawkins a cup of steaming coffee. "We've got your six, Sergeant. You and your team have done great work so far."
Hawkins took a sip, feeling the warmth spread through his chest. "Thanks, Captain. We couldn't have made it without Lieutenant Specter's sharp eyes."
Specter smiled, her eyes gleaming with pride. "Just doing my job, Sarge."
Patel and Jackson were busy checking their gear, replenishing ammo and performing quick maintenance on their weapons.
Hawkins turned back to Captain Lewis. "What's the latest intel on the objective?"
Lewis nodded towards a nearby terminal. "We've got updated satellite feeds. It looks like the enemy has increased their presence around the target."
Hawkins' eyes narrowed. "We need to get in and out fast, then."
Lewis nodded. "Agreed. We'll get you the latest coordinates and.
A burst of static interrupted him, followed by an urgent voice on the radio. "FOB-4, this is Sierra-2. We have multiple hostiles closing in on your position. Requesting backup, over."
Hawkins' gut tightened. "That's our cue. Let's gear up, team. We've got a fight to get to."
The team sprang into action, grabbing their gear and heading for the Humvee.
As they sped out of the FOB, Hawkins knew they were in for the toughest part of their mission yet. But he had faith in his team. Together, they could handle anything.
As they approached the objective, the Humvee's radio crackled with increasingly frantic calls for backup. Sierra-2's voice came through, laced with urgency. "FOB-4, we're getting overrun! Multiple hostiles, too many to count!"
Hawkins' gut tightened. "Patel, step on it!"
The Humvee surged forward, bouncing over rough terrain as they sped towards the besieged team.
As they crested a rise, Hawkins' heart sank. Before them lay a sea of enemy fighters, pouring down the hills like a tidal wave. Sierra-2's position was pinned down, surrounded on all sides.
Specter's voice came through the comms system, her tone steady. "I've got a clear shot on the enemy's left flank. Permission to engage?"
Hawkins nodded, even though she couldn't see him. "Permission granted, Lieutenant. Take out as many as you can."
Specter's sniper rifle cracked, picking off enemy fighters with deadly precision. But for every one she took down, three more seemed to appear.
Jackson's voice came through, laced with fear. "Sarge, we can't hold out much longer! There are too many of them!"
Hawkins knew they had to act fast. "Patel, get us closer! We need to extract Sierra-2, now!"
Patel nodded, his eyes fixed on the chaos ahead. "Hold on, this is gonna get bumpy!"
The Humvee plunged forward, bullets whizzing past as they fought to reach their comrades. Hawkins knew they were running out of time.
Just as the Humvee was about to be overwhelmed, a thunderous roar shook the air. A sleek, battle-hardened A-10 Warthog dropped from the sky, its 30mm cannon blazing as it strafed the enemy lines.
The enemy fighters scattered, caught off guard by the sudden arrival of the air support. Hawkins' team took advantage of the reprieve, pushing forward to extract Sierra-2.
The A-10, callsign "Havoc-1", continued to lay down a withering field of fire, its cannon rounds ripping through enemy positions. Hawkins' team reached Sierra-2's position, pulling them to safety as the Warthog provided cover.
