My Beginning

And you woke up.

Even after everything, you never expected to be here.

After all the pain and trauma.

Maybe something good did come out of your existence.

You opened your eyes to the same ceiling. You crawled out of bed, barely feeling anything. Barely hearing your parents arguing downstairs, barely hearing your sibling's cries. Everything is hazy. A small thought occurs in the back of your head.

As soon as I leave

All I have to do is shut the door behind me and I'm free.

It's funny, how twisted this world is.

You managed to make it downstairs before you got caught. Your mom spotted you first, pausing her argument with Dad and turning to you. Her brow furrowed and her nose scrunched, as if she had smelled something bad. "Y/n"

She spat your name like you were nothing. Just a bug to be crushed. All hope you had of leaving the house without hundreds of tears disappeared instantly. Your mother stalked toward you and slapped you straight across your face. The pain snapped you out of the haze, but you could tell it would leave a mark.

See that's just how it is at your house. Your parents get angry, then take it out on you and your siblings. You only have two escapes: leaving the house, and your favorite game, Genshin Impact. Your mother starts yelling at you, but you tune her out. It's a skill you had to learn. After a while, she gets bored and goes back to arguing with Dad. You almost sigh in relief before remembering that you aren't out of the woods yet. Without anyone noticing, you make it out the door safely. Your tense attitude disappears and you quickly take off the black hoodie you have on, to show the bright pink shirt you had on underneath.

You start making your way to the local high school, where no one knows about your parents, your problems, or anything of that other you. Here you can be yourself. Here everyone likes you. You're that quiet, but kind kid in the back of the classroom. Even with all the differences between you and everyone else, no one treats you differently. You proudly show off your h/c hair and e/c. The biggest difference is your f/c fox ears and tail. Yes, you are part fox. You always wondered if you were a hybrid or something, but no one treated you differently.

Except for your parents. They hate you for some reason, whatever it is.

You make your way to your first class, meeting up with some friends along the way. You all laugh together after your best friend makes a funny joke. The entire school day goes by in a flash. Luckily your parents don't care about you enough to know when school ends, so you go home with your bestie Layla to go to your favorite place. The world of Genshin Impact. The mere idea of visions, magic, and the archons is enough to put you in a good mood for the rest of the day. Your favorite character in the game so far has to be Venti. You not only think he is an amazingly written character, but you also have a really big crush on him.

You get to Layla's house and log on. The first thing you see is his pretty design. You are able to play for a few more hours before the dreaded time has come.

To go home.

You bid goodbye to Layla, and start trudging home. It's late at night when you get back, so you manage to sneak upstairs. Once you make it to the second floor you see your mother looming.

Waiting for you. Your heart drops into your stomach as you assume the worst.

"Y/n"

You freeze, hearing your name.

"Would you like to explain to me why your teacher called me to talk to you? And you weren't home, even after school had ended 2 hours ago?" She glares at you, shooting daggers into your heart.
"I-" You begin, but she cuts you off

"Don't answer!" She barks.

"How dare you lie to me! I put a roof over your head, even though you are an abomination with those ears and tail!"

Tears start to fill your eyes, but they go unnoticed. Your mother presses her lips into a straight line before delivering the line that changed everything for you, forever.

"Pack your things Y/n, because this is your last night here!"

You are too slow to react, still processing what she just said. Anger flashes across her features and she slaps you for the second time today. The surprise causes you to stumble backward, lose your footing, and fall down the stairs.

Backwards.

The last thing you remember is hitting your head on the cold hard tile at the bottom of the stairs, and as your vision slowly disappears, you see blood.

It's yours.
