You're not sure if you had ever felt so panicked as you did right now. Even Haruhi seemed thrown off-guard. Since you were at such a loss for words, Haruhi spoke up sternly, "Guys, don't say anything. It's none of your business, and you shouldn't have been eavesdropping in the first place." You don't speak to the club other than club time, of course, and you've seen Haruhi get a bit exasperated at times, but never so serious.
"Yeah, yeah." One of them says, resting an arm on the other.
"Whatever you say." He drawls in return. "But you can't blame us if it gets out anyway." He shrugs. You stare back at them warily, mouth parted and dry.
Though they seemed to mostly heed Haruhi's advice from what you've seen, you couldn't be sure their silence was guaranteed, since they were such wildcards. You don't think even Haruhi completely believed them, but she still nodded her head once in acceptance.
You might be pushing it, but you decide to speak. "Please. I-..." You falter for a second. "I'm barely even managing as it is. I don't need everyone else on my back and looking down on me." Wearing your heart on your sleeve and showing all your cards, you wait for them to speak. They only stare at you, as if nothing you were to say is interesting anymore, before they glance at each other.
To your relief, they both nod once. You let out a sigh.
"But how did you manage to make it into Ouran anyway, then?"
"Uh, yeah, I don't really know, myself..." You trail off. "I was just as surprised when I got news I was accepted. I didn't even think more than one student was allowed to have a scholarship."
"Normally not. That is pretty strange." One taps their chin. "Maybe you somehow passed with flying colors."
"Yeah..." You'd seriously doubt it. So what exactly did happen? It's not even like you were ever first in your class.
"Actually," Surprised, you whip around to see Kyoya standing behind you, with his ever polite smile and his glasses that always seem to glint in the light. What was with people suddenly coming up behind you today? "It seems seems as though you did pass the entrance exam with almost all correct questions. As this has never happened before, it seemed only fit to accept the two highest scoring achievers; you, and Haruhi."
No way. There was definitely no way you were as smart as Haruhi was, and you weren't even that lucky. Or maybe unlucky.

"Seriously, what's up with you always being suspicious with the club members?" Rei asks you at lunch.
You're stopped mid-bite of your salad when she peers at you questioningly, hand cupping the side of her face. "Ah, um," You're unsure of just how honest to be. "uh, maybe it's because I'm like Haruhi?" You offer more like a question rather an answer. No reason for more people to know your secret. At her silent nod, you add, "Hey, maybe they're starting a collection."
Rei stares at you for a second (maybe you should've kept your mouth shut at that last part...) before, to your surprise, she laughs. "Sometimes I forget how funny you are. You're always so quiet." For a reason.
"Yeah, sort of a downer, y'know." A new, familiar voice takes you both by surprise. You look up to see the twins taking a seat at either side of Rei, who seems absolutely flustered by them.
"Right? I mean, you'd think a scholarship student would have more interesting things to say, wouldn't you?" The other smirks at you. Hikaru, you think. You glare at him when he feigns innocence.
Rei nods once, more so because she's slightly taken aback by just their presence. "Ah, yeah. So," Even Rei struggles for a second to get back into conversation. "How are classes?"
"Fine..." You respond. The twins smile coyly now since they know you're not doing as well as you should be in your classes. However, you smiled. "Art History with Kahn is getting easier and easier."
"Art History? As if that's even a struggle." You glare at the twin that said that.
Rei decides to come to your rescue. "Well, Kahn can be pretty strict."
"Really? She's pretty nice to us." Kaoru (you assume, but you'll just go with it for now) says. "Then again, our family knows her personally."
Of course they do. She probably lets them get off easy and bumps their grade up one...
"Ah, they do?" Rei asks, curious. They both nod.
Hikaru answers as he plays with his food on his fork, twirling it around. "Yeah, she's pretty big in the art historian world, and our mom likes stuff like that."
You suppose it makes sense, that a well-known, well-off person would teach here. You pick at your food on your plate, face resting on your palm in a bored fashion.
"Y/N, elbows off of the table." Your eyes widen as Rei talks sternly. You smile in apology and instead put your hands in your lap. You had realized that Rei could be a bit of a stickler for manners and etiquette...
It's not until the twins snicker that you mind and glare at them.
you stare back down at your food furrowing your brows before muttering under your breath "yeah.. well some of us have to actually work for our grades anyway.."
the twins ears perk up "what was that?" Hikaru said looking at you. The look on his face was not a pleasant one so you decided to pretend you were coughing a bit "ehm.. nothing."
"oh would you look at that my next class is starting now, gotta go" you say in a bit of a hurry awkwardly grabbing your book bag from the cafeteria bench you were sitting at. Rei looks at you suprised "oh.. already?" she says looking a bit disappointed but before you can respond she gets distracted by kaoru making a flirty joke towards her.
"bye.." you say shaking your head in a bad mood from hikaru's attitude towards you as you begin walking away from the table. The moment you think you're doing better here there always the twins to dampen your mood thats for sure.
as you walked out you couldn't help but feel a pair of eyes watching you from behind and only when you turned to walk out into the main hall you barely met eyes with hikaru before blinking and looking straight ahead "weirdo.."
