You were waiting patiently (not really) for Akemi to show up. You had really only agreed out of politeness (and her being pushy) to go with her to the club. She was going to kill you with suspense, as she refused to tell you what it was about. You would have gone in by yourself, but you needed at least someone.
"Hey!" A familiar voice cheered. You turned around to see Akemi waving at you. You sighed in relief. So many girls had walked past you, giving you weird looks as they entered the music room. Actually, it had only been girls going in. And quite a few, at that.
"Hi," You said, hopefully you didn't sound too exasperated. She didn't seem to notice if you did, that, or she ignored it.
"Are you ready?" You gave her a forced smile. It made your eye twitch.
"Ready as I'll ever be." You gritted out. She walked past you and eagerly opened the door to the music room. When it opened...
A rose petal smacked you in the face. You blew a raspberry at it when it hit your mouth.
Um?
And then, you were greeted by the faces of handsome boys.
"Welcome." They said.
You swear all that was going through your brain at that moment was white noise. Akemi squealed as her face went completely red. Wait, all red? Now you were concerned. You didn't think turning that red should be humanely possible. You watched as the blonde took her by the hand, kissing it. He smiled up at her, "Hello, mademoiselle,"
His eyes met yours. He took a few steps towards you. "Hello," he gently grabbed your hand.
"Made-" He paused as he tried to pull your hand up to his lips, but your hand stayed firmly at your side. You completely froze.
"Ah, shy, are we?" He smiled sweetly at you, and let go of your hand. "That's alright, soon you'll feel comfortable enough, perhaps even let yourself be charmed." He punctuated with wink.
Shut up, theater kid. Get back to scene 12 at the theater. Doesn't Spielberg need you by now?, you thought.
Looking back at the group of boys behind this wannabe Casanova, they all looked just as charming (and smug) as him. One of them, however, stood awkwardly behind, giving you a small, exasperated pity smile. She had short, brown hair and eyes. Except, she was wearing standard rich-boy uniform. You vaguely remembered her from your year, but she was in a different class.
You took a look around nervously before hiding behind Akemi. how the heck did you get yourself into this type of situation? skibidi fuck this shit, you thought before one of the boys came up to you with wide eyes and an eerie smile.
He seemed extremely young and not very tall either. "uh.. hi?" you responded akwardly as he continued staring into your soul. "Would you like to have some cake with me?" he asked abruptly, that took a few eyebrow raises and blinks before you understood exactly what he was asking.
looking over at akemi already having the time of her life with the handsome blonde, you sighed as you nodded agreeing to go with this child like boy.
"What's your favorite kind of cake?" He asked. What was this boys deal with cake? you asked yourself as you both walked over to a small tea table towards the middle of the room "I uh, I couldn't say.." you answered hoping that response would suffice.
apparently not as he turned to move in front of you stopping you from walking any further "y-you mean you don't like cake?" he looked up at you with wide glossy eyes as you began to feel guilty, why were you feeling so guilty? "No, I do like cake I just meant.. well its hard to pick cause there's too many good flavors..?"
He seemed to get his smile back which filled you with relief, after a few seconds he continued walking as you looked down noticing a giant pink bunny stuffed animal, what was a kid in highschool doing with a plushie?
As you finally made your way to a table, he eagerly took his seat where a single slice of cake was placed on a weirdly highly decorated plate. Just as he was about to take a bite, a deep, monotone voice stopped him. "Honey." He stopped and looked up at who interrupted him. It was one of the guys in their little entourage earlier, a very tall boy with dark hair and eyes. He glanced at you and your chair, Honey following his line of vision. All of a sudden it clicked for him and he shot up from his seat. "Oh!"
He quickly got over to your side of the table, pulling it out. The chair made a slight screeching sound and you winced. You pretended not to be bothered because you were slightly worried they'd nuke him if he was even slightly less perfect than their standards, given the prim and proper state of the room dominated by smug gentlemen. He gave you a wide smile, "Sorry! I was just excited about my cake."
You gave him a small (nervous) smile to reassure him it was okay, and he made his way back to his seat. Honestly, you didn't care all that much that he didn't pull out your chair for you, but you still gave a nod to the taller boy in appreciation. He nodded back, meeting your eyes. He had a very intense gaze, but he broke it when he looked away to look at Honey. Even though you didn't know them well, you could tell they were close.
Honey seemed to be enjoying cake while you looked down at a slice that was cut for you, well you might as well dig in, you thought before carefully grabbing a fork placed upon the napkin beside your plate neatly. "So.." you started "what exactly is this club about" you asked whilst taking a bite of your cake.
there was a moment of silence due to the fact that he was gulping down a large piece of cake in his mouth as he began to choke "Oh.. Hon-" you started to rise from your chair to try and help him but before you could do anything the tall and tan dark haired boy from earlier was already patting his back.
you sighed with relief as Honey gave a thumbs up for reassurance. after wiping his mouth with a napkin he turned to the other boy and smiled "thanks Takashi" the boy just nodded before leaving us alone again.
"so, back to your question" he said taking another big bite of cake, you hoped this wouldn't cause another choking fit from him.. "this is a host club!" you cocked your head to the side in confusion. "a host club..?"
"Yeah!" He confirmed before taking another bite of cake. "Basically we just give the girls something to do. We talk, eat cake..." He trailed off as he admired the chunk of cake on his fork. "Tama-chan created this club."
Who? "Who?"
"Tama-chan!" He repeated, but this time pointed in a certain direction behind you. You lagged for a second before you slowly turned behind you to see the pretty boy from earlier. He had been trying to romance Akemi and two other girls you recognized. Yeah, that adds up.
"Oh, yeah. He's," you stop yourself for a second so you can think of something not too mean. "Interesting..."
"Yeah, but he's really great, and nice, and lets me eat all the cake I want." Honey said, in such a way that sounded so sweet and earnest, and familiar, like there was more to it. "He-"
"Honey-senpai!" A voice exclaimed. You both turned to see three girls staring and smiling at him sweetly. "Do you mind if we sit here?"
You smiled politely, and got up to leave, not really wanting to join in on a potentially awkward conversation. "Thanks, Honey," you awkwardly added as an afterthought to not be rude, "senpai."
He smiled back and waved, giggling.
When you turned away, you thought back on how it wasn't the worst conversation ever, and smiled to yourself. He- wait, senpai? That dude was older than you?
