I was standing at the edge of a bridge, staring down at the water raging below it. It was raining heavily and my clothes were soaked, clinging to my thin frame. My mother was out doing god knows what. She doesn't care. I have had enough of this awful life, feeling like nothing I do will be good enough for anyone. I get ready to jump but I'm suddenly pulled back from the edge. I stumble into the person, causing both of us to fall down. Despite this, their arms never let go of me. I look to the person, recognizing their face instantly. Layla. What the hell is she doing here? She's looking at me, then to where I was standing and back to me.

"What are you doing here?" I ask coldly.

"I went to a party, I was in my way home. What are you doing here? It's the middle of the night. Were you going to jump?!" Her questions get more rushed the longer she speaks. I don't answer her. I know it was obvious what I was doing here. "You told me you were doing better. You said you'd be fine at home." Hearing the desperation in her voice, I start feeling guilty and ashamed. I look away.

"I'm sorry." Is only thing I can muster up. You'd have missed it with how quiet my voice suddenly got.

Her hand caressed my cheek, her lips finding its way to my forehead to drop a light kiss on it. "I'm gonna take care of you."
