Isabella woke up to a dreadful day, feeling exhausted from a sleepless night. She had barely closed her eyes, her mind racing with thoughts and worries. As she reluctantly got out of bed, her body felt heavy, weighed down by the emotional turmoil of the previous day. Dark circles under her eyes and puffy eyelids showed her distress.
She trudged downstairs to the kitchen, her feet feeling like lead. "Morning," she mumbled to her parents, her voice barely above a whisper. Her mother had already prepared breakfast, but Isabella's appetite was nonexistent. She took a seat at the table, and her mother placed a plate of pancakes in front of her. Isabella took a small nibble, but the food felt like cardboard in her mouth. Her stomach was queasy, and she felt nauseous, still reeling from the chaos of the previous day.
The lack of sleep had taken its toll, and her head pounded with a throbbing headache. She couldn't shake off the ominous feeling that had settled in the pit of her stomach.
With a sense of dread, Isabella walked to school, her feet carrying her on autopilot. Her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of her future and she couldn't focus on anything else. The gloomy mood that had settled over her seemed to match the gray skies above, casting a somber shadow over everything.
As Isabella entered the school premises swarming with students chattering among their friends,She navigated through the crowd, making her way towards her locker, where she was supposed to meet her friends. Her eyes scanned the area, but her mind was elsewhere, wishing James was there to share the burden of her thoughts. James, her childhood best friend and neighbor, was currently visiting his grandmother in England, and his absence felt like a void in her life.James and Isabella shared a brother-sister kind of bond .He was as close as a sibling to her .She shared a similar bond with his two older twin brothers Edward and Cole.
she met her friends at her locker. "Hey, guys," she greeted them, trying to sound normal. But her gloomy mood hadn't gone unnoticed. Alice, Kate, and Samuel exchanged concerned glances.
As they walked to class, her friends discussed Alice's situation with her parents. Isabella remained silent, lost in thought. But when they mentioned the DNA test, she felt a surge of emotions. "Excuse me," she said abruptly, rushing to the bathroom before anyone could notice her tear-filled eyes.
Inside, she broke down, tears streaming down her face. She quickly washed her face and composed herself when she heard Kate knocking on the door. "Are you alright, Bells?" Kate asked, concern etched on her face.
"Yeah, I'm good," Isabella replied, forcing a smile that didn't match her eyes.
Kate looked skeptical, but Isabella changed the subject, saying they should hurry to class to avoid being late. When she entered the classroom, her friends' questioning eyes met her, but she reassured them with a smile that she was alright.
But deep down, she was breaking. She wanted to confide in someone, anyone, about her situation and have them reassure her that she wouldn't be separated from her parents. A part of her was curious about her biological family, but she refrained from exploring those thoughts.
"I won't leave them," she told herself, trying to sound convincing. Her father had assured her the day before, but the fear lingered.

After agonizing hours of enduring their mathematics and physics lectures the group of four made their way towards the cafeteria. As they sat down at a table, Alice, Kate, and Samuel delved into a lively conversation about their plans for the upcoming weekend. Isabella, however, remained subdued, passively listening to their chatter while her mind wandered elsewhere. She couldn't wait for the day to be over, craving the solace of sleep and the relief of painkillers for her persistent headache. Her appetite was nonexistent, so she skipped lunch altogether waiting for school day to be over.

The last bell of the day finally rang, and I was free to head home. I quickly packed my belongings and bid farewell to my friends, already imagining the comfort of my warm bed and my mother's delicious cooking. As I made my way down the street, I hastened my pace, eager to reach the solace of my home. But as I turned the corner onto my street, my heart sank. Three black, tinted SUVs were parked outside my house, their presence ominous. My heart skipped a beat as I rushed towards the front door and bolted inside. The sight before me froze me in my tracks. Three tall, imposing figures occupied one side of the living room, their presence seemed to fill the space. My parents sat opposite them, their faces tense and worried. And then, one of the strangers spoke, his voice sending shivers down my spine.
"Hello, little sister."
