Q spent the entire night tossing and turning, unable to get Toey out of his mind. The boy's quiet resilience and unexpected defiance were unlike anything he had encountered before. As he got ready for school the next morning, Q's thoughts were consumed by Toey, and a strange sense of guilt gnawed at him. Despite this, he knew he had to maintain his tough image, especially in front of his gang.

As Q walked into school, his gang members immediately noticed his distraction. "What's up with you, Q? You've been off lately," one of them said.

Q shrugged, trying to shake off his unease. "Nothing. Just thinking."

"Thinking about Toey?" another gang member sneered. "Don't tell me he's getting to you."

Q's expression hardened. "Of course not. He's just a challenge, that's all."

The day proceeded with Q half-heartedly participating in his usual antics. He continued to bully Toey, but there was a noticeable lack of enthusiasm in his actions. During a particularly tense moment in class, Q flicked a paper at Toey, but when Toey turned and caught his eye, Q quickly looked away, his usual smirk faltering.

Toey, on the other hand, remained calm and composed, refusing to give Q the satisfaction of a reaction. He continued to focus on his studies, determined to not let Q's bullying break him. The more Toey ignored the taunts, the more Q felt a strange mix of frustration and admiration.

At lunch, Q spotted Toey and Mai sitting together in the library again. Instead of feeling satisfaction at the prospect of tormenting Toey further, Q felt a pang of something else—guilt. He watched as Toey and Mai laughed and talked, the ease of their interaction a stark contrast to the turmoil Q felt inside.

Q's gang noticed his distraction. "You're getting soft, Q," one of them taunted. "What's the deal with you and that new kid?"

Q clenched his fists, trying to suppress his conflicting emotions. "Shut up," he snapped. "I'm not getting soft. Toey's just... different."

"Different how?" another gang member asked, genuinely curious.

Q hesitated, unsure how to articulate his thoughts. "I don't know. He just is."

That afternoon, Q found himself alone in the school courtyard, lost in thought. He watched as Toey walked by, his posture straight and his steps steady. Despite everything, Toey hadn't broken down, and that intrigued Q more than he cared to admit.

As Toey passed by, he noticed Q sitting alone. Their eyes met briefly, and for a moment, there was a silent understanding between them. Toey gave a small nod of acknowledgment, and Q, to his surprise, found himself nodding back.

That evening, Q sat in his room, his mind racing. He couldn't shake the feeling of guilt and confusion that had been building inside him. His feelings towards Toey were becoming more complicated by the day. He was no longer just a target—Toey was someone who challenged Q in ways he hadn't expected.

Q knew he couldn't continue on this path of bullying Toey, but he also didn't know how to stop. His reputation was at stake, and his gang expected him to maintain his tough image. Yet, deep down, Q felt a growing desire to protect Toey rather than torment him.

As the night wore on, Q made a decision. He couldn't keep tormenting Toey, but he also couldn't completely abandon his gang. He would have to find a way to balance both worlds, at least for now. And in the meantime, he would try to understand his own feelings and what Toey truly meant to him.

With this resolution, Q drifted off to a troubled sleep, knowing that the days ahead would bring even more challenges and emotional turmoil. But one thing was certain: Toey had changed something inside him, and there was no going back.
