The next morning, Q walked into school with a renewed determination to protect Toey. He knew he had to balance his role as a gang leader with his growing feelings for Toey, and he was prepared to face the challenges head-on.

As Toey made his way to his locker, he noticed a few students eyeing him warily. The whispers and stares were something he had grown accustomed to, but today felt different. There was an air of anticipation, as if everyone was waiting to see what would happen next.

Q's gang was already gathered near the lockers, their eyes fixed on Toey. Jin, still skeptical of Q's recent behavior, stepped forward, his expression challenging. "So, are we just going to let him walk around like nothing's changed?"

Q shot Jin a warning look. "I told you, Toey is off-limits. Anyone who messes with him answers to me."

Jin opened his mouth to argue, but Q's glare silenced him. With a grudging nod, Jin stepped back, and the rest of the gang followed suit. Toey, feeling the tension, approached Q cautiously.

"Thanks," Toey said quietly, his eyes meeting Q's. "I know this isn't easy for you."

Q shrugged, trying to play it off. "I made a decision. Now I have to stick to it."

The school day proceeded with a palpable tension in the air. Q's gang members watched Toey closely, but no one dared to challenge Q's orders. Toey, for his part, remained vigilant, aware that his newfound protection was fragile and could be challenged at any moment.

During lunch, Q found himself sitting with Toey and Mai in the library. It was an unusual sight, and many students whispered and pointed, unable to believe that Q, the feared gang leader, was sitting peacefully with Toey.

Mai looked at Q with a mixture of curiosity and respect. "I have to admit, I didn't expect you to stand up for Toey like that."

Q shrugged, feeling uncomfortable with the praise. "I just did what I thought was right."

Toey smiled, grateful for Q's presence. "It means a lot, Q. Thank you."

The rest of the lunch period passed in a surprisingly pleasant atmosphere. Q found himself relaxing, enjoying the quiet companionship of Toey and Mai. For the first time in a long while, he felt a sense of belonging that had nothing to do with fear or intimidation.

However, the peace was short-lived. After school, as Toey walked to his locker, he was confronted by a group of students who were not part of Q's gang but had their own grudge against him. They cornered Toey, their intentions clear.

"Looks like your protector isn't around, Toey," one of them sneered. "Time to settle some scores."

Toey's heart raced, but he stood his ground, hoping that Q's protection would extend even to these aggressors. Just as the situation was about to escalate, Q appeared, his eyes blazing with anger.

"What do you think you're doing?" Q demanded, stepping between Toey and his attackers.

The students hesitated, intimidated by Q's presence. "We were just having a little fun," one of them said nervously.

"Fun's over," Q snapped. "Get lost before I make you regret it."

The group scattered, casting wary glances at Q as they fled. Q turned to Toey, his anger melting into concern. "Are you okay?"

Toey nodded, though his hands were still shaking. "Yeah, thanks to you."

Q sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I told you I'd protect you. I meant it."

Toey smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude and affection for Q. "I know you did. And I believe you."

As they walked out of the school together, Q couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. Protecting Toey felt right, even if it meant facing opposition from his gang and others. For Toey, having Q by his side made him feel safer than he had in a long time.

Their journey was far from over, and they both knew there would be more challenges ahead. But for now, they were united in their resolve to face whatever came their way, together.
