Shivu... is his Athai ponnu. She is chirpy and joyous. Her each words echoes with her laughing sound, had a very pure and innocent eyes apt for her age, 15. She had everything for her age. A good family. A caring father and a understandable mother and a mischievous elder brother who used to pull her leg and fight with her for silly things which might be big for their age, like fighting for equal sharing of food... etc. But what she lacked.... No... She didn't lack anything instead she was given with a burden to hold in addition to her innocence, is her husband.
A marriage!
Is this the age to have husband. YES IT IS. As per the rules of our ancestors but not to Ashwin. He will never entertain such thought. He hate traditional thoughts to ''Not to give girls the permission to go to school.'' He apposess the idea of Not giving rights to girls. But living in a society were girls were treated as a unpain maid, made him to go away from this village. He couldn't bare this vulnerable rules and condition. In addition to that, He and his father always had a long argument regarding this.
Though he is 25, he isn't ready to go with the policy of marrying only the cousin, Mora ponnu. Not after knowing her age. She is 15. He know.
He is the one who held her in his arm when she came to this world. Her tiny finger nudging his chest. He still remember those fresh scene. Then how could he. He hadn't seen her in such sense from the day she born. She was so little when he went to Madurai for his college studies.
Whenever he return for vacation, she used to run around and play. She was small. He see that. She used to sometimes held his hand and drag him to play with her. Hide and seek. Chase and chase. Tough the colour, pair and pair etc. He, she , her brother, Ashwin's sister and other 4 from neighbor kids used to play. Life was so fun when we were young .
There is one such day, that shook him hard. Some one congratulated him. Saying congratulation is not a problem but the reason behind it , was a problem.
Shivu, hits her puberty and everyone came and congratulated him. What is with him that they congratulated him? He was so frustrated. And He is not a child to not to understand the reason behind it. He know it quite well. And His father too was so happy to hear the news and Literally called her 'Marumagale'. The reason behind it is so obvious.
Here when Ashwin turned 25. The real problem started. His father tortured him to marry her. Her!! Shivu. Is that really..... human's act? How could he? She is so small.... for his age. 10 years of age difference.
But time doesn't permit to think twice, here they are in Mandabam. Ashwin is sitting with rigid face. Shivangi is so happy. May be she don't know the meaning of the ''Real marriage and its motive.'' Shivu smiled at him but she hardly gave her a smile.
His inside was crying by witnessing her innocent smile.
''It's time. Tie the nuptial chain.'' The priest said.
Ashwin tied the yellow threat. Each knot, made him to shed tears. '' you are only saving her Ashwin. Nothing more.'' He said to himself.
He filled her forehead with kungumam as well as he hair partition. She smiled at him with innocent eyes.
''I will obey your words as your wife.'' She said innocently. That's where he came to know that, she is being slaved in her home to accept what others say. 'The girl should not possess a right to decide something for herself or the other.' So called people rules. She hadn't escaped from this.
Are they supposed to be couples?
He hadn't seen her in such sense. He used to see her as a child... not even as a mora ponnu.
Are they supposed to be couples?
