Running laps wasn't the worst thing it the world, and if it was a normal warm up Nick won't hate it, but it wasn't. It was the hardest training Nick ever had to run, I mean ten laps, the woman was insane. Then again, he deserved it after the rude and inconsiderate words him and Jack had side the Kate in the car parks that morning. It also didn't help that the whole team knew about the inserted thanks the Josh opening his mouth in the locker room when they entered. Now either the whole team thought he was the biggest joke ever or hated him and Ginnivan for the punishment they all received for their actions. Lippa ran past on the 4th lap bumping Nicks shoulder before mocking with a quick remark, Nick didn't quick catch it but is sounded something like, "next time flirt without the attitude" before he had turn forwards to continue running. Most of the team had heard him, laughing has they reached the end of the 4th lap. 'Almost halfway Daicos' Nick had thought to himself in an attempt to motivative him to continue the brutal and somewhat unnecessary warm up.
By the end of the lap the players were cooked, the sweat was dripping from every inch of their body's shining in the sun. Kate couldn't help but laugh a little as they, one by one, began to return the where the coach's stood, panting as they wiped the sweat from their brows. Nick had finished the laps before Ginnivan, trying his hardest to stay standing after running the 10 laps without stopping, he leaned on his knees for support has he tried to catch his breath. Kate could hear his heavy breath; she could see his tense muscles under the jersey. Kate could see the sweat dripping down his face from the warmup, has he stood up right he pulled his jersey with him revealing his abdomen. Kate could see his abbs which were also drenched in sweat, she could see that Nick treated his body like a temple, it was perfect. 'Jeee Kate, keep is professional' she thought to herself, but she couldn't help but let her eyes linger just is little longer.
Suddenly she realized she was being watched, Lippa had finished his laps and had walked into what felt like something he shouldn't have seen. Kate looked up to Patty, his eyes were moving between Kate's eyes and were there were near seconds ago. Before Kate knew, Patty was standing next to her has she tryed to look busy by fixing her cap. 'Like that will work Kate'.
"Don't even" Kate had threated rolling her eyes has he's met hers.
"What" Lippa said, pulling on a faked confused look, "I didn't have say anything". Patty had his usual winning smile one trying tick Kate into admitting that she was drooling over Daicos, but Kate knew what he was doing and would fall for the trick.
"Oh please just shut up and let it go" Kate said trying to walk out of what could end up being an incredibly awkward conversation.
"Hah, it's like you don't even know me kitty" Patty stated . Only Patrick Lipinski could get away with calling Kate by her nick name. He moving in front of Kate so she would be unable to walk away. "I court to drooling over Nicks abbs, that's very unprofessional Bolton". Pats was really pushing it with the mocking voice he was using on her. Kate needed to get him to shut up before she blurts is to the whole club.
"Don't know what you're talking about Patty", Kate explained before walking off, praying he would say anything about what he swore.
"Ohh come on kitty, lighten up, I meant no harm" He held after her catching the attention of some of the other players around her. Kate turned around staring right into his green eyes.
"Pat, want to run another ten laps" Kate spoke, you could hear the threat in her voice, Lippa just swallowed fear and also intrigue in her eyes, he stayed quiet. "Good" 'gods he's insufferable'. Kate love Patty like a brother but sometimes her could be too much like a brother, finding any opportunity to mock or embrace her.
Warm up part of training section was over and they moved onto drills, Kate had handed of this part of the section to Fly because he had a few things he personally wanted to work on. Kate stood on the sides watching the players, she was noting how they interacted. Fly was working them hard and at this rate Kate was worried they would have any energy for her work shops but before she knew it Fly had finished up the morning half of the training and the players moved to the lunch break. As Kate was making her way to the coach's room for lunch she heard her name being calls from behind her. Has she turned on her heels she hearing footsteps on the grass oval approach her from behind, she looked up and met the gaze of Nick Daicos jogging over to her. She simply just stood there, and Nick approached.
"Hey" Nick spoke, his voice was soft and clam, if she and known him is school he seemed like the kid who was popular and somehow nice to everyone even if you weren't friend with him or were considered a little weird.
"Hi" was all Kate would manage to say to him, after Lippa had court her staring at his abbs she was terrified that he would tell him or that nick was going to once again say something rude and insufferable.
"Yer umm listen," Nick started, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "I just wanted to that I am so incredibly sorry for the shit I gave you in the car park, it was rude and inconsiderate of me, and I should not have spoken you in that way. Especially given you're a coach and all".
Kate just smiled at him; it was good to see he wasn't just a stuck-up player. "Well, Daicos."
"Nick, you can call me nick."
"Nick," Nick could see that her eyes were trying to study him, "Thank you for apologizing to this very lost fangirl" Kate referred to the first time they met, both Nick and Kate laughing. "It's good to see that you're a man of honor and accepts when they are wrong." The two stood there laughing quietly in the silence of the Collingwood training ovals, both looking into the other eyes.
"Soo um Kitty was it" Nick said, the boy once again had his hand on the back of his neck. Kate was sure what she thought about him calling her kitty, all she knew was that it was unprofessional and not appropriate.
"Its Bolton to you Nick, I am your coach after all, nick name aren't appropriate" Kate said a small smile on her face has Nick resiled she was a coach and technically in a higher position than him. He had just though Kitty is was everyone called her after Pats spoke to her.
Nick laughed again; he had one of those contangoes laugh that rubs off in you after hearing it enough times. "Okay coach". The two just stood on the oval looking into each other's eyes, time seemed to stop around the two. Kate didn't even notice the Josh, Jack and Pat were making there way over to the door of the club building were her and Nick stood.
"Hey blondie", Ginnivan called, "Sorry for this morning love". 'Gods this boy was too confident' Kate thought has she rolled her eyes at the boy.
"Keep is professional Ginni" Pat had joked pushing to boy to the club door. "Its coach to us" He always had to find the opportunity to mock her, Pat winked at Kate has he past. Josh had walked off with Patty and Ginnivan, giving Kate the 'can we talk' look.
"You two coming to lunch" Josh called from the door.
"Shall we go?" Nick offered to her allowing her to lead the way to the club dining room. Kate could only giggle at the boys chivalry.
"We shall"
"You know you didn't need to give such a hard warm up, I already felt like shit when I swore you" Nick explained as they walked to the door.
"Where's the fun in that?"
