YOU WILL OBEY my rules. You will follow only my instrustions, wherever I go, you follow. Do you understand?

My eyes scan the street as I follow Torren inside the building. Giano; Torren's cousin follows after us, giving me a wink as he walks past me. I roll my eyes, still not believing that they're related.

I had refused, I was going to refuse this whole 'bodyguard' thing. I mean, it's absurd, completely wrong. I don't know what changed my mind. Maybe it was because Torren looked ready to end me, or maybe it was the fact that he was annoyed by his cousin's decision to spare me. And I don't know, maybe, just maybe, annoying people is one of the things I do best.

I had one job. And I fucked it up. Three months is a long time. Three months of being in Torren's presence everyday. Three months of putting my life on the line for him. Three months of being his slave. His human shield.

I kill people. I do not protect them. And Torren, god, Torren is one of the people I'd really like to kill. I see why Vladimir hired me to get rid of him, the man is absolutely insufferable.

I hate him. I don't know why I didn't realize it before, underneath those looks, is something ugly and rotten. Something unholy. And I hate what he stands for. I hate the fact that I have to protect him even though all I wanna do is strangle him.

"What are we doing here?" I ask, genuinely curious. Looking at the fancy building, with its gilded doors and lavish furniture, it really doesn't look like a place where criminals meet. It looks more like a palace.

"You're assigned to be my bodyguard, not my babysitter, so I suggest you keep your mouth shut." I can't see his face when he says that. And I'm sure glad that he doesn't see mine because I might not have been able to hold myself back.

I roll my eyes, he didn't have anything else to say? Giano nudges me, and I turn my attention to him.

"Don't mind him. He's always like this. Its just a boring meeting with boring old people, don't worry about it," Giano says. I smile, nodding at him. Again, how the fuck are they related? Giano is literally nothing like Torren. Although they might have some resemblance, Giano is more...human. The polar opposite of Torren.

We keep walking, and before we reach the big gilded doors at the end of the hall, a man walks next to Torren. He stops walking, and I manage to stop before I bump into Torren. I look at the unfamiliar man, and my hand finds my gun immediately, but I frown and let it go when I realise who it is. Torren's father. He says something to Torren, then looks me over. After he finds whatever he was searching for, he turns back to his son.

There's no denying it, the resemblance between them is striking. Although Lupo is much older than Torren, they still share the same grey eyes and sharp nose. Torren's features are more defined, sharper, but its evident that Lupo must have been a hit in his younger days.

"Continui ancora con questa sciocchezza?" He asks Torren.

[You're still going on with this nonsense?]

I raise a brow, looking at Giano. He just sighs, shaking his head dismissively. "E hai scelto una donna, per giunta."

[And you chose a female, at that.]

Wait, are they talking about me? I'm literally right here.

He doesn't know know you speak Italian, idiot.

Oh so now you decide to speak?

Torren turns to face his father, his jaw clenching. "So cosa sto facendo, padre."
