Izzy was awoken by a figure vigorously shaking her. Her eyes snapped open - still blinded by sleep - as she layed her eyes on her brother.

"Hey, get your bag and pack some things we gotta go," he instructed, a hint of urgency in his tone.

She took a second to process his words, her eyebrows furrowed.
"What? Where are we going?" She asked, her voice layered with sleep.

Cain let out a frustrated groan "just pack some stuff," he glared at her and stormed out of her room in a hurry.

She looked at the door for a moment with a face contorted in confusion. What the hell?

She climbed out of bed and grabbed the small backpack that Cain had left on her desk, filling it up with her favourite clothes. She made sure to grab her dog teddy too - she wouldn't last without it.

Cain blasted through the door again.

"Come on," he shouted as he walked to the front door, grabbing his car keys and hurriedly making his way to his truck.

Izzy ran to catch up with him, sitting in the passenger seat and putting her seatbelt on. She glanced out the window but she had to do a double take. Mrs Grover - her neighbour - stood there. Blood pooled at her mouth and her eyes we're almost... lifeless.

"Cain..." she whimpered, her eyes wide. "What's happening?"

He started the car and started speedily driving away. "Hey, don't worry you'll be fine," he reassured in an unusually soft voice.

She shifted back in her seat, pulling her legs up to her chest and squeezing her eyes closed. What was going on? What happened to Mrs Grover?

Cain looked at her with a softness in his eyes but he turned away again, focusing on the road in front of him.

Cain and Izzy found themselves on the highway just outside of Atlanta, stuck in traffic. It seems as if everyone had the same exact idea as them.

Izzy rested her head against the window, looking around. However, she couldn't seem to shake the picture of Mrs Grover from her head. What happened to her.

She began to think about last night. The same thing always happens when Cain gets drunk or high - he always gets angry over everything. She turned to face him.

"Cain..." she spoke hesitantly, fidgeting with her fingers.

He didn't spare her a glance. "What?"

She swallowed the lump in her throat and took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry...about yesterday." She started nervously. "I-I was just being clumsy again, I didn't mean to do it."

Cain sighed and looked at her. Izzy couldn't decipher the look he was giving her.

"It's fine," he stated nonchalantly.

She nodded, happy that he wasn't mad with her anymore.

Her gaze was redirected out of the window as people started exiting their vehicles. She looked around in confusion as everyone's eyes were glued onto the city. She slowly turned to see what they were looking at when she came face to face with earth rumbling explosions.

She quickly covered her ears, squeezing her eyes shut. Why were they bombing the city?

She looked to her left to see that Cain was no longer in the vehicle and she couldn't see him outside.

She opened her door as her eyes scanned for a glimpse of Cain. She spotted him talking to a man in a police uniform. It looks like there was a woman and a kid with him as well.

She walked over to them, nervously fidgeting with her fingers.

Cain spotted her and firmly held her shoulder.

"This is my little sister Isabella," he stated with a smile. She looked at him, confusion evident on her face. Why was he acting like that?

The police officer crouched down to her level and gave her a friendly smile.

"It's nice to meet you Isabella, my name's Shane." He pointed to the woman and kid beside him "this is Lori and Carl."

They both offered her a smile but she looked down at the ground. Why was everyone smiling?

Cain shared a few more words with Shane and guided her back to to car and starting the engine.

Apparently they were going to set up camp somewhere safe. Izzy sure hoped it would be safe.
