Chapter 1: Psychopath
The sound of the car horn echoed loudly from the street outside of the school. I picked up my dance bag without a thought and held it above my head unsteadily, displaying my wary strength. Beads of sweat streamed down my face as I made my way down the halls as far as my wobbly legs would carry me. I arrived to the great glass door with my classmates. The door towered well over six feet over my . The rough dark storm clouds lingered in the sky, nearly touching the tall unbreakable buildings.
Like everyone else my eyes scanned the street that was lined with cars, looking for her vehicle. My eyes focused upon a hazy green colored BMW waiting for me in the pouring rain. I held my bag above my head firmly as I pushed the door open with the other kids who found their transportation home.
“See you soon, Pandora,” one of my friends called as she began to towards her grandmother’s car.
“Bye,” I squeaked in excitement. The cool bittersweet rain nipped at my skin with intense loathing. The humid air didn’t bother me much; it just made it harder for me to breath. I whipped the car door open and placed my bag upon the floor as I climbed into the passenger side of the car. The BMW hummed vividly as we pulled out into the flooded roads of Laguna.
The usual resting palm trees that swayed with the gentle breeze were leaning so far away from the storm that it seemed like that trees would snap in half. Some of the trees have fallen onto some cars and thankfully it wasn’t ours. Lightening flashed threateningly across the obscure skyline. The display of flashing lights in the sky drew my attention from the road and towards the unforgiving heavens.
Not much crossed my mind at that moment only the quick thought of seeing his face crossed my mind. The temporary images felt so real that it felt like he was right there beside me. I could feel his strong warming arms wrap around me with ecstasy and joy. Both eager and anticipation nearly drove me insane. My entire body began to bounce uncontrollably with excitement. A warm slender hand grasped my own with a comforting ease.
“Calm yourself, you’ll get to your birthday party soon enough,” She whispered confidently. I looked up at her quickly as a corky smile formed upon the corner of her mouth. Her long lavish auburn colored hair rested upon her shoulders and her unusual pacific blue colored eyes glittered brightly. “How old are you today, Twenty-six?” She teased with a bright smile.
Girlishly I laughed in amusement as she turned to me, waiting for me to reply.
“No I’m ten,” I chanted excitedly as I held up the number with my tiny fingers. Her hand touched my pale cheek lightly as her thumb tenderly stroked my face.
“You are so beautiful, you really do make your father proud,” she whispered with her bright smile glowing upon her face.
I opened my mouth to speak but the loud sound of a truck horn bellowed hauntingly. The horn drowned out my voice effortlessness. At the same time we both turned from one another and looked out at the road. Straight ahead and closing in so fast we couldn’t do anything was an eighteen-wheeler truck. The bright headlights blinded me with fear as I closed my eyes and drew my knees up to my chin. I knew what would come next…
“Pan… hey Pan,” a distant voice calls. The voice is so familiar and yet it feels like it is close but at the same time it feels far away. I shake my head and blink several times. My eyes meet my friend Anna’s face which stares at me in confusion and fright. Her usual bronze face is pale just like her almond colored eyes that are burning with concern.
