Marco's POV
There had been a storm. I'm not talking about a normal storm though; I'm talking about a typhoon; complete with wind and claps of thunder. The ship rocked back and forth; many crew mates scurried below deck, stricken with fear. Suddenly a gigantic wave crashed into the ship; I heard the splintering of wood and the screams of many men. And then blackness.

I awoke with a start, sweat drenching my forehead. Once I came to my senses I smelled the salty water of the sea and I heard creaking wooden floors. I sat up; a bad decision on my part. My head began to ache, and I became quite nauseous and my eyesight blurred. Suddenly someone walked into my cabin. Wait; this wasn't my cabin. This was much smaller. It was more like a cupboard, but that's getting off topic. Anyway; someone walked into my cabin. I couldn't see them too well due to my skull-splitting headache, but they had long blonde hair, and large blue eyes. Blue the color of the sky.
"Hey, go back to sleep. You're still not well enough to sit up," a soothing voice said. Wait. That sounded like a girl's voice. Why was a girl on my ship? Was this even my ship? I had no idea, but none of these questions mattered as I faded back into a restless sleep. My dream started out pleasantly enough though; I was back on my ship, and the sky was a beautiful blue. Sort of like the blue of the girl's eyes. The girl. Who was that girl? And why was I dreaming about her even though I knew next to nothing about her? Little did I know, but the girl in my dreams would later turn out to be an absolute nightmare.

I awoke once more, but this time I wasn't sweating, and I felt much more like myself.
"Marco Diaz, captain of The Golden Rose. Known for being the cleanest, safest pirate around," said a voice. It sounded like the girl from before. I looked up to see her smiling down at me. I was right; she had flowing long blonde hair, and her eyes were as blue as the sky. Although she was pretty there was something odd about her. Was it the crazed look in her eyes? Or the even crazier smile on her face? I'm not sure, but it was unsettling whatever it was.
"How do you know who I am" I asked. My voice was scratchy, indicating that I hadn't used it in a while. I coughed, "How long have I been asleep?"
She glanced at me, almost like she'd forgotten that I was there. "Oh! I'm not quite sure, but I think you've been asleep for, like, 6 days? Hm... Maybe 8? Either way it's been a while. And I know you because you're the talk of the Pacific. Everyone everywhere is talking about the captain who's more concerned about the safety of his crew than stealing the worlds largest ruby" she giggled, and sat down at the end of my cot.
"I think you should go back to sleep; it's half past 2 in the morning, and most of the crew is sleeping. We'll talk more at dawn. Good night," she smiled once more, and left, closing the door softly behind her. I'm not quite sure how, but her soothing voice and soft smile sent me back into a deep sleep.
