The hospital corridors were as cold and gray as ever. The anxiety and fear inside me only intensified against the backdrop of those cold concrete walls, making it difficult to breathe. My grandmother lay motionless in her hospital bed. Her face was pale, her breathing weak. The doctors had told me that donating blood might help her. A spark of hope ignited within me; perhaps this small sacrifice could bring her back to life.

As the blood bag slowly filled, time seemed to stand still. Everything felt like it was moving in slow motion. When the nurse said, "That's enough," I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I wanted to believe that my blood would do her good.

When I returned to the room, my parents were by her side. My mother was crying silently, and my father's eyes were distant, lost in thought. I approached my grandmother's bed and took her hand, yearning to feel the warmth of that delicate hand. "Grandma, I'm here. I'm helping you," I whispered softly.

Within an hour, the transfusion was complete. My grandmother lay unconscious in her room. We all stood by her side. As we waited in silence, she suddenly opened her eyes. She wasn't speaking, just making noises as if she couldn't breathe. We all rushed to her side, trying to understand what was wrong. My mother shouted, "Doctor! We need a doctor, now!" Her voice echoed through the hospital.

In a matter of seconds, the emergency team arrived, but my grandmother had closed her eyes again. Her pulse had stopped. They began to defibrillate her. We held our breath, hoping against hope. As I had donated my blood, I believed everything would be fine, that my blood would heal her. But it was too late for everything. There was nothing more to be done. My grandmother lay motionless and lifeless...

"Goodbye, Grandma," I whispered. "I will always love you." I walked out of the room. The world outside was still turning, but my world had come to a halt. My grandmother was gone, but her memories would stay with me forever.
