Dump her

The next day at school, I felt a storm brewing inside me. I'd been up all night, tossing and turning, replaying the conversation I had with Niccolò and the growing sense of frustration that accompanied it. I couldn't keep pretending everything was fine when it clearly wasn't.

By lunch, I found Niccolò waiting for me by the usual spot, his face a mix of hope and uncertainty. I took a deep breath and approached him, my heart pounding in my chest.

"We need to talk," I said, my voice steely and determined.

Niccolò nodded, his eyes searching mine. "I know, Honey. I've been thinking a lot about what you said."

"Good, because I'm done waiting," I interrupted, crossing my arms. "I don't believe for a second that you'll ever break up with Virginia. You keep talking about family expectations and pressures, but honestly, those excuses are wearing thin."

He opened his mouth to respond, but I cut him off. "You know my family's just as wealthy as yours. My dad's filthy rich, I'm popular, and if you really loved me, you'd make the choice to be with me. But you're not doing that. Why? If she's not important to you, then why don't you dump her?"

Niccolò looked pained, struggling to find words. "It's not that simple, Honey. My family—"

"Is that all you can say?" I snapped. "Every time you mention your family, it sounds like you're blaming them for your decisions. But let's be real here: if you wanted to be with me, you would be. You're choosing Virginia because it's easier for you."

His face fell, and I could see the conflict in his eyes. "Honey, please. I do love you."

"If you loved me," I said, voice shaking with anger and hurt, "you'd make a choice. But since you can't do that, I'm done. It's over."

The words stung, and I saw Niccolò's face crumble as I turned and walked away. I felt a pang of regret, but also a sense of relief. It was time to stop living in a lie.

Later that day, I met up with Ludovica to talk about the offer Fiore had presented. We sat at a quiet corner of a café, the weight of the conversation hanging between us.

"I'm thinking about Fiore's offer," I confessed. "I don't know if it's a good idea or not, but part of me is tempted."

Ludovica looked thoughtful, her eyes assessing me. "I understand. It's a lot to consider. But if you're really thinking about it, you should know exactly what you're getting into."

"I know," I said, feeling the burden of the decision. "That's why I want to see more of what Fiore's offering. I need to understand it better."

That evening, Ludovica and I went back to the club. Fiore greeted us with his usual charm, and this time, he introduced me to an older man, someone he referred to as an "interested party."

"This is Mr. Romano," Fiore said, gesturing to the man beside him. "He's looking for someone who can offer him a bit of companionship. It's not always about what you think."

Mr. Romano looked at me with a mix of curiosity and interest. "Nice to meet you, Honey."

I nodded, trying to keep my composure. "Nice to meet you too."

Fiore continued, "Mr. Romano is well-respected and has a lot to offer. If you decide to go this route, you'll have some security and freedom. But remember, it's always your choice."

As I talked to Mr. Romano and listened to Fiore's pitch, I couldn't help but feel a mix of apprehension and determination. This was a chance to take control of my own life, but it came with its own set of challenges. I had to decide if it was the right path for me or if I was just trying to escape the pain from my recent breakup with Niccolò.

After the meeting, Ludovica and I walked home, both lost in our thoughts.

"So, what do you think?" Ludovica asked.

"I'm not sure yet," I replied honestly. "But I'm considering it. I need to make a decision soon, though."

Ludovica nodded. "Just remember, whatever you choose, make sure it's for you and not just to escape something else."

I agreed, feeling the weight of her words. As we parted ways, I knew that the decision I made next would shape my future in ways I couldn't yet fully comprehend.
