**Chapter Fourteen ~ A New Mission**

"Good morning aviators." Cyclone starts. Phoenix, Bob and Maverick are sat in the room.

"Captain." Cyclone nods to him. Maverick walks up to the front of the classroom.

"I'm sorry to have kept you here at Top Gun for this long however this mission is just as important as the last. We need to get set off as soon as possible."

Phoenix and Hangman look at eachother for a moment before looking at Bob, who is looking at Maverick. A determined look on his face.

"You all know your fellow pilot, Katelyn. Callsign Falcon. She is currently being held hostage in enemy territory. The mission is to get her back here safely as soon as possible." Maverick continues.

Bob looks at the ground, clenching his fists furrowing his brows. Phoenix places a reassuring hand on his shoulder before continuing to listen to Maverick.

"The mission involves no flying. No. This mission involves hiding and acting. You'll be flown over on a helicopter then try to sneak into the compound. Once in there, you'll be wearing a uniform to match theirs. Act normal. Like you're meant to be there. Get in, get Falcon. Get out. I don't know how hard it'll be but I trust you three to work with me to stay under the radar."

He looks around the room.

"We ship out tomorrow. We can do this. Get some sleep."

Bob sits on his couch, Calli curled up next to him. Sarah let him look after her so he had someone to keep him company during these times. He thinks back to the night before the mission. How him and Katelyn were dreading going. They were worried for a good reason.

Now there's a new mission. A mission he's much more willing to go on. Even excited. He wants to get her back. He wants a life with her. He wants to go back to that night. Back to the night they met. He wants to rewind it all and find a way to prevent it from happening. But if he did that, would things still be the same between him and Katelyn?

His thoughts continue to race. He thinks back to the mission, he thinks ahead to this new mission.

Anything can happen. But hopefully the outcome is good...

Katelyn continues laying bricks. One by one. One after the other. For days. No break. Her hands are bloody and sore. She needs a break but each time she tries to take one, she gets kicked and made to continue. She hates it.

She wants to escape but the chain around her ankle says otherwise.

She continues placing bricks. One by one. One after the other.

Her legs buckle underneath her. Falling to her knees, the brick in her hand lands on her hand.

"Fuck." She winces, taking the brick off her hand and struggling to move her fingers after the impact.

A solider walks over to her, tapping the ground next to her with his baton.

"Stand, American." He commands. Katelyn tries to stand however her legs are too weak. She fails to stand.

"Now." He repeats. She tries again, finally standing. Her legs shaky but she managed to balance herself.

"Next time. Do it when told." The soldier glares at her before walking away. The girl exhales and looks at her hand. It's clearly broken from the brick but she has to continue. She uses her left hand to lay each brick. She struggles to get them even at first but eventually gets the hang of it.

She can't help but wonder why no one's come looking for her yet. Are they even worried about her? Do they even care?

Her thoughts race as she begins to lose hope of being found. Something in her mind is telling her she should have taken the solider role. Anything instead of laying bricks with a broken hand...

Bob stands with Phoenix on the ship. The deja vu kicks in. Only a week ago he was on this course. That was for a better mission though. He still had Katelyn with him then.

"You okay there Bob?" Phoenix asks, pulling him from his thoughts. Bob nods.

"Yeah. Yeah. I'm fine."

"You don't look it. What's on your mind?" She pushes.

Bob sighs. "I'm just scared of how we're gonna find her. What kind of state she'll be in. I'm just praying she isn't already dead..."

"She isn't dead. From what I've overheard, her tracker keeps moving. It stays in one area however she's still moving. She can't be dead if she's still walking." Phoenix places a hand on his shoulder.

"We'll save her. Don't you worry."

Bob nods again, looking back at the ocean. "Thanks Phoenix.."

"I've got your back. We all have." Phoenix smiles, going to walk away.

"I'd get ready if I were you. It's almost time to set off."

Bob nods as Phoenix walks away. He takes a breath before going to get ready himself.

The journey into enemy territory on the helicopter is quiet. Too quiet. Everyone is finally remembering how real this mission is. A mission to save a friend.

The helicopter lands and the three of them jump out before it flies away.

"Okay.. We're in enemy territory. Remember, lay low and whatever happens, we're on the same side as them." Maverick says, his voice low and quiet. Phoenix and Bob nod and they start making their way towards the compound...

*~*

They reach the compound... There's guards everywhere.

"We'll have to split up. That way it'll be harder to get caught. Bob, you look in the large clearing. It's the best place to get in as they're still building the wall." Maverick says. Bob's mind is blurry and after he's given his orders, his hearing goes blank. He heads to where he needs to go.

He reaches the clearing and notices all the people with chains on their ankles building a wall.

They must be prisoners.. Maybe this is the best place to look for Katelyn..

His thoughts race as his hearing comes back. A woman's cry. The sound of a baton beating someone.

Bob ducks behind a tree and observes. A girl with messy brown hair and blood stained clothes. He squints his eyes to get a closer look.

Katelyn...
