The rain pattered rhythmically against the windows of Y/N's window. She sat at her desk, daydreaming about her classmate, Shima.
"Hey, are you okay?" A concerned voice pulled Y/N out of her reverie. It was her roommate, Shura, peering at her from the doorway.
Y/N blinked and nodded. "Yeah, just a bit lost in thought." She offered a small smile, hoping to dispel Shura's worry.
Shura lingered for a moment, then stepped into the room. "You've been looking at that photo of Shima for a while now. Did something happen between you two?"
Y/N's cheeks flushed as she quickly closed the book she'd been using to hide her secret. "No, nothing like that," she mumbled, hoping her voice didn't betray her. "Just... thinking about the assignment."
Shura raised an eyebrow but said nothing more, returning to her own room. Y/N let out a sigh of relief and turned her gaze back to the photo. It was from the school festival, a candid shot of Shima with a beautiful smile on his face.
Her thoughts swirled around the time she had spent with him, the shared glances, and the occasional brush of his hand against hers that sent her heart racing. It was an innocent friendship, but it had grown into something more for her, something she knew she couldn't ignore any longer.
The next day at school, Y/N gathered her courage and approached Shima during lunch break. He was sitting under a tree, surrounded by a small group of friends, his eyes catching hers as she approached. She felt her heart skip a beat as she took in his messy hair and the way his uniform clung to his toned form.
"Hey, Shima," she called out, her voice barely above a whisper. He looked up, a questioning smile playing on his lips as he waved her over. She took a deep breath and sat down next to him, her knees trembling slightly.
"What's up, Y/N?" he asked, setting aside his lunch. His eyes searched hers, as if he could sense her nervousness. The other students around them continued their conversations, oblivious to the turmoil within her.
"I...I wanted to talk to you," she said, her voice quivering. She felt his gaze on her, and it was like he could see right through her.
Shima's smile faded a bit. "Is everything okay?" His voice was gentle, but she could sense a hint of concern.
"You know what, nevermind, I gotta go." Y/N abruptly stood up, her face flushed with embarrassment. She had practiced her confession a hundred times in her head, but the words just wouldn't come out now.
Shima's eyes widened. "Wait, is everything alright?" He reached out to grab her arm, but she pulled away, mumbling an apology and rushing off.
The rest of the day, Y/N couldn't focus on her classes. She avoided him the rest of the day, feeling his eyes on her whenever she was near. After school, she decided to head straight to the roof. It was her favorite spot, a place she often went to clear her head. The cool breeze and the sound of distant traffic provided a comforting white noise to her racing thoughts.
As she sat on the edge of the roof, her feet dangling over the side, she heard the door creak open. She tensed, expecting it to be one of her classmates. Instead, she saw Shima, his expression a mix of confusion and concern. He walked over and sat beside her, not too close, but close enough for her to feel the warmth of his presence.
"You've been avoiding me," he said, his voice a low murmur that seemed to resonate within her.
Y/N took a deep breath, her heart racing as she looked at him. "I just... had a lot on my mind."
Shima studied her for a moment before speaking. "Do you want to talk about it?" His voice was soft, inviting.
Y/N bit her lip, the words she had held in for so long threatening to spill out. "I... I think I'm falling for you," she blurted, her eyes wide with shock at her own audacity. She was so embarrassed, she stood to leave, but Shima's hand on her wrist made her pause.
