A few weeks later...

Solai

"Good Morning Solai." Mrs. Peters said as she walked into my office, giving me a tight hug.

"Good Morning Mrs. Peters, I'm so glad we could finally have the meeting." I said with a smile.

"You can sit on the sofa or in this chair, whichever is more comfortable for you." I said as I sat down at my desk.

She sat her purse on the folder and walked over to my desk with her laptop and folder, sitting both down.

"Hello Mr. Stevens, it's nice to finally meet you." She said.

"Hi." Antrone said quietly.

She looked at me and I whispered a quick "sorry."

She nodded and opened her computer.

"From the information that I've gathered, Mr. Stevens should have had a retrial years ago."

I immediately frowned because I wasn't notified about this at all.

"When?" I asked.

"It definitely should have been around when he turned 18, he came into the system as a minor and all minors get retrials when they become an adult. Also, there was supposed false evidence brought into the case. I believe that this was done because they just wanted him in here for good, so they tampered with evidence to make the situation look worse than it really was."

(I don't know about court stuff really, this information is not true :))

I was sick, this is really so sad to hear.

"Basically, there's a chance he could've been released?" I asked.

"Yes...had professionals done their job when handling this case, he would not still be in the system today." She said with an apologetic look.

"Fuck." Antrone mumbled.

"I have to ask to make sure. Mr. Stevens, do you wish to proceed with this procedure?" She asked.

"Yes." He nodded.

"Ok so let's get started." She said as she opened her folder.

5 hours later...

"Hopefully, the retrial can be within the next 6 months because we want to get you out of here as soon as possible." She said.

"Honestly, with the information I found, I don't understand how there wasn't a retrial within a year after his first. There are clearly pieces missing and tampered evidence, I don't understand how they didn't notice."

"I think they did..." I said.

They both looked at me with confused looks.

"Antrone's parents were well known mob bosses. They had wealth that protected them and the police couldn't get to them for years. Once it was announced they were murdered by their own son, I think they would have done anything to keep Antrone from gaining their power. If he were to get a retrial and leave due to reason of abuse, he would have probably gone in their footsteps and continued the legacy or just gained the wealth and stayed out of reach." I said.

They both just stared at me. Did I say something wrong?

"Alright Ms. Lawyer, I'm clearly not needed here because even with my experience I didn't think of that." She said with a smile.

"If we could find enough presentable evidence for this, not only can we have Mr. Stevens released, but we can also have multiple people put in jail. This isn't only wrong, but it's illegal to tamper with any evidence in a case. This can result in immediate termination and jail time."

Antrone and I both nodded as we listened.

"I will have doctor's appointments scheduled as soon as I can because if Mr. Stevens was abused as badly as we think, there would most likely be signs in the  CT scans."

"Ok, and when should we expect a pretrial to be happening?" I asked.

"Usually there are 1-2 pre-trials before the retrial and it's always depending on if there is proper evidence to be presented. As long as we have enough presentable evidence, a trial should be expected a month or so after."

"Ok." I said as I added that to my notes.

"Also, we have to discuss the level of yall's relationship."

We both looked at each other grinning.

She laughed and rolled her eyes playfully.

"Anybody with eyes can see the way you both look at each other, so you both have to do your best with keeping the relationship a secret. Nobody is allowed to know about what you both have going on because it only takes a second for the information to spread to the wrong crowd." She said.

"Solai, you have to be ready to answer questions about the relationship you have with him. They are going to want to know why his therapist stepped up and decided to get him a lawyer."

"I understand, thank you so much Mrs. Peters."

"You are more than welcome ladybug. You both stay safe and look out for one another, I'll see you both soon."

She hugged me tightly and then waved at Antrone as she left.

"We're really about to get you out of here." I said as I sat next to Antrone, who was sitting on the couch.

"Hopefully." He mumbled.

"Don't do that Antrone, you can't go into this with a negative attitude. I understand that's hard to ask of you, but please hold onto hope, don't be the reason this doesn't work." I said.

"Ok baby." He nodded and pulled me into a warm hug.

I'm bizzybizzybacccckkkk.
