"MIKHAELA, my dear." Grandfather suddenly spoke behind me.I'm busy wiping my favorite toy but I wasn't disrespectful enough to ignore the best guy in the world. I gave him a kiss on the cheek, and he smiled at me sweetly. My grandfather doesn't look so old when it comes to his face, the only thing that gives out his age was his white hair.
"You have three phantoms?" I nodded; he meant the toys that I've been wiping, cleaning, inspecting, and observing, my Rolls Royce Phantoms, 1 drophead, 1 rose, and my favorite VIII. "And even got a ghost, be honest with me love, are you the owner of this company?" He joked and I just rolled my eyes.
"I bought the phantoms and that white one's just a gift."
He raised his brow, as he leaned on my drophead. "You do know that I'm not strict about anything but suitors." I chuckled with his statement.
"You're too old for that kind of structure, pa." He shook his head with a sly smile. " So, what is it? I know a busy tycoon like you wouldn't visit his favorite granddaughter just for a chat." Now, a full smile escaped his lips and chuckled, he messes up with my hair.
He took one of my hands and kissed it, a sign of a serious talk, I can sense that he's a little nervous about what we're going to talk about in a few minutes. I can't help but stand straight and look at him softly. "You know, Mikhs. Papa's not always going to be here." My mood changed and took my hand away.
"Pa, ayaw ko po ng ganiyan. Please stop talking like that." I said with a disapproving tone, and he looked at me softly.
"Kahit sobrang guwapo ng lolo mo na napagkakamalan lang na tatay mo... doesn't mean I'm getting younger, dear." He looked at me with hope and that was enough for me to know where this is going. "The doctors said I should retire." I nodded since I agree, it's best for him to enjoy his life.
"That's true, pa. You've done enough for the family, leave all your companies to dad." He shook his head, "You'll leave it to Ahia, then?" He shook his head again.
"Mikhaela, you're the only one who's fit to be my heiress."
I looked at him, expressing my shock with an agape mouth. "Pa, you do know that I'm not fit to the business world. Please have Ahia as your heir, I'm going to pursue my dream course that is related with media arts, please give this to me, pa."
"Easy there, Mikhs. I'm not forcing you, dear. I'm just telling you about my plan in the future. Give this old man a break, please think about it. I know it will be a big responsibility, but I don't trust your dad nor your brother with my sacrifices, you're the only gentle soul in the family I created and also your cousin, Nicolette."
"Then.. why not choose Colet instead of me, pa?" He sighed and cupped my cheek.
"I can't and you know why." I sighed.
I looked into his eyes. My papa or lolo's the only person I trust, that's why I honestly understand him. Because in his case, the only person he could trust is me, his only granddaughter. He was there when my mother left me because of dad's shortcomings and when dad decided to dote on Ahia because he's a son.
Being his daughter was enough for him to cast me away especially if I resemble my mother a lot.
But papa never left me alone, he was genuine with all of the things he does. He loves his company so much that he's willing to compromise and try to ask me a favor when in fact he raised me gently.
"Fine, papa. But, what's the catch? What are your rules?" He became teary-eyed.
"Ibig bang sabihin?" I nodded and he hugged me tight, "Thank you, apo. Thank you so much, makakaalis na ako ng payapa,"
"Papa," I warned him but he just laughed.
"Well, since your identity as my granddaughter has yet to be established. This may be a good opportunity to train under the entertainment company I've built for you years ago?" Oh. He looked at me apologetically, he may now remember why I never continued pursuing my other dream.
"Going back.. there's this artist of mine na inaalagaan ko talaga. She's such a wonderful lady, can pass as my new granddaughter," He wiggled his eyebrows to tease me, I rolled my eyes. "She has the talent but she's focusing on modeling for now but that's actually the problem."
"Why?"
"Kahit anong gawin namin, she's not getting famous. And that's where you'll come in, dear."
I frowned.
"You have to get hired without any connections, get that job as a marketing officer, and help Monami Ricalde to get famous."
"So, you're saying... In order to be the rightful heir, I have to undergo training without connections and do you a favor in saving that model's career?" He nodded.
I nodded and sighed afterwards, I never expected to do something as weird as such as..
