Kaira's POV

Last night ended with Bhaiya scolding me—again. I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm still ten years old when he gets that tone. Anyway, today is different. Today, I have a... date. Hehe.

Relax, not the kind you're thinking. It's a friends' date—me and Rhea. No boss, no assistant. Just two old friends being us again. And honestly? I need this. These last few weeks haven't exactly been sunshine and roses, but thanks to Rhea's hard work, we landed a big project. She deserves this break with me.

Still... there's this dull ache sitting in my chest. What if Ritu was with us? What if she just came to me one day and said sorry? I know myself—I would forgive her in a heartbeat. I don't care about her stupid COO position, or the Singh Company power games. But... she didn't. And maybe she never will.

Leave it, Kaira. Not today.

I focused on the mirror in front of me, dabbing a little touch-up on my face. The reflection looking back at me was... wow. White chikankari kurti, blue jeans, hair falling just right. I tilted my head, smirked.

"Oh god, I am beautiful," I whispered dramatically, then quickly did a little thu thu thu to save myself from my own evil eye. Can't risk it, right?

I grabbed my purse and finally stepped out of my apartment. It had been so long since I actually drove my car myself—finally, freedom.

The basement smelled faintly of petrol and dust. My heels clicked against the concrete as I reached my car. Sliding into the driver's seat, I inhaled deeply. The leather, the faint perfume from weeks ago—it felt like home.

"Okay, baby, let's go," I murmured to the car like the overdramatic queen I am, starting the engine.

And just like that, I drove off toward Rhea's house, excitement buzzing in me. For once, I wasn't Kaira Singh the businesswoman, or the one haunted by betrayal. I was just... me.

After a thirty-minute drive, I finally pulled up outside Rhea's house. I messaged her, "Oye, bahar hoon."

Her reply came instantly: "Coming."

But you think I'd stop at just waiting quietly? Ha! You don't know me. Irritating Rhea is my favorite hobby. Reason? She looks ridiculously cute when she's angry. Sometimes I honestly wish I had a big sister like her.

The moment she stepped out of her gate, adjusting her dupatta, I slid my car window down and blasted the song at full volume:

Aaja meri gaadi mein baith jaa
Aaja meri gaadi mein baith jaa
Long drive jaayenge, full speed jaayenge
Kahi rukenge na hum...

I bobbed my head like a full item number backup dancer.

Her glare? Priceless. The kind that could kill a man in three seconds. Neighbors peeked from their balconies, whispering, throwing us looks like they had just spotted two runaway lesbians. That thought made me laugh harder. I almost choked on my own giggles.
