Chapter 3
Ava walked home from the library, lost in thought. As she turned a corner, she collided with a tall, muscular figure.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, as the stranger steadied her.
"No worries, I'm fine," he replied, flashing a charming smile. "I'm Blake, by the way."
Ava's eyes widened as she took in his rugged features and piercing blue eyes. "I'm Ava. Nice to meet you, Blake."
They chatted for a few minutes, Ava feeling an unexpected connection to this stranger. But as they talked, she noticed a group of rough-looking men eyeing them from across the street.
"I should go," Ava said, feeling uneasy.
Blake nodded, his expression turning serious. "Yeah, me too. Nice meeting you, Ava."
As they parted ways, Ava didn't notice her brother watching from across the street, his eyes narrowing at the sight of Blake.
Kyle's mind flashed back to their last fight, the one that left him with a bruise on his ribs. Blake "Rampage" Conti was his name, and he was the only fighter to ever defeat Kyle in the underground circuit.
Kyle's gut twisted with anger and unease. What was Ava doing with him?
Ava walked home, her mind replaying the encounter with Blake. She couldn't believe she'd exchanged numbers with him, but there was something about him that drew her in.
As she opened the door to their house, Kyle was waiting in the living room, his eyes fixed on her.
"Who was that?" he asked, his tone neutral.
Ava hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "Just someone I bumped into. His name is Blake."
Kyle's expression darkened. "What did he want?"
Ava shrugged, trying to downplay the encounter. "We just talked for a bit. He seems nice."
Kyle's eyes narrowed. "Ava, I need to tell you something about Blake. He's not someone you want to get involved with."
Ava's curiosity was piqued. "What do you mean?"
But Kyle just shook his head. "Just trust me on this one, Ava. Stay away from him."
Ava felt a surge of frustration. Why was Kyle being so secretive and overprotective? She was determined to find out more about Blake, and their connection.
As she went to her room, she couldn't help but sneak a glance at her phone, where Blake's number was saved. She smiled, feeling a spark of excitement.
