"Damn it, I finished work so late at night again, I can go home in the dark again!"
Hi, my name is Kim Soojin, a 25-year-old event planner. I am 165 cm tall, 55 kg, have long brown hair, thick cherry cheeks, and brown eyes. The downside of my job is that I usually don't see daylight by the time I'm done. But I can't complain, the company, Purple Rose, is mine, with a super team of 20 people. Fortunately, business is going well, we have regular orders, even celebrities visit us. But unfortunately, it takes up all my time so much that I have no energy left for anything else. No family, no boyfriend. I often feel alone, lonely, but I have no strength to do anything about it. I get up early in the morning, go for a run along the banks of the Han River, and then go to work after a quick morning shower and a hearty breakfast. At noon, I have a quick lunch with my colleagues and friends, and then I go back to work. By the time I get home, all I want to do is take a bath and fall into bed. If we have an event, we often work on weekends and late into the night.
I have a two-room apartment in downtown Seoul, from where I can easily move to work and to the locations. I usually like to walk, so I only use the car on the way to external locations, I prefer to walk between the apartment and the office, because the two are barely 20 minutes apart.
I'm walking home tonight too.
Turning into one of the alleys, I noticed two dark figures in the distance, peering around and throwing a small package into a corner, on top of a bunch of other bags.
"It's great because there's not enough trash on the streets..."
I slowed down so that they could leave, it is better to avoid strangers in such places, you never know who you will run into.
But the two figures were quickly absorbed, so I increased my steps again to get out of this dark place as soon as possible.
All of a sudden, I heard a thin meowing sound, like a kitten crying, but I couldn't see anything.
At first I thought I must be hallucinating from fatigue. I hurried on.
" oooh, oooh... "
It was now closer and a little stronger, it was a weak sound, but there must be something there.
I went in the direction of the sound, because a kitten was in trouble, this plaintive cry could only mean that.
"It probably got stuck in the sacks."
I headed in the direction where I saw the shadows throwing the bags earlier. The sound was coming from there, as I got closer, I could hear it more and more, but I couldn't see anything.
"Where can you be?"
"Tittttt?"
But only soft crying was still the answer.
" ooooo, ooooo! "
I turned on the flashlight on my mobile phone and started searching through the bags. Everything was here, rags, toys, bags full of paper, but the kitten was not found. Then in the far corner I noticed a small sports bag, something that the boys carry at school these days.
That's where the thin voice came from.
I climbed inside for the bag.
"Did they throw the cat out of the bag? What heartless scoundrels!"
I carefully lifted the bag off the top of the sea of bags. I gently put it on the ground, then crouching next to it, I carefully opened the zipper, opened the mouth of the bag, and looked inside to find the source of the sound.
But there wasn't a cat in the bag...
In my surprise, I put my hand in front of me and squealed.
