The sun was just beginning to rise over Kattegat, casting a golden hue over the training grounds. The crisp morning air was filled with the sounds of clashing metal, grunts of exertion, and the steady rhythm of warriors honing their skills. Among them, Aster , Draco, Blaise, and Enzo were integrated seamlessly, their presence now a familiar part of the daily routines.
Aster stood across from Ubbe, her eyes focused and determined. The early morning light glinted off their weapons, creating a halo of brightness around them. The training grounds were alive with activity, but Aster's attention was solely on Ubbe as he demonstrated a series of combat techniques.
Ubbe, with his imposing stature and commanding presence, moved with a fluidity that belied his size. He swung his ax in a wide arc, demonstrating the balance between offense and defense. "Aster, it's not just about strength. You must be swift and precise. Watch my movements."
Aster nodded, mirroring his stance. She moved through the motions, her wand tucked safely away as she focused on the physicality of the fight. Her ax felt heavy in her hands, but with each swing, she felt more attuned to the rhythm of the battle. "Like this?" she asked, her voice steady despite the strain.
Ubbe smiled approvingly. "Exactly. Now, let's add some defence." He stepped closer, showing her how to parry blows with the flat of her axe while maintaining her balance.
Aster followed his guidance, her movements becoming smoother with each attempt. "Ubbe, how do you keep such balance in the heat of battle?"
Ubbe paused, considering her question. "It's about finding your centre, both physically and mentally. In battle, your mind must be as focused as your body. Trust in your training and your instincts. They will guide you."
Nearby, Hvitserk was leading Draco and Blaise through a rigorous close-combat training session. His movements were quick and efficient, his strikes precise. "In close combat, every second counts. You have to be quicker than your opponent," Hvitserk instructed, demonstrating a series of rapid jabs and feints.
Draco, his wand temporarily set aside, mimicked Hvitserk's movements with fierce determination. "Like this?" he asked, executing a swift jab.
Hvitserk nodded. "Good, but keep your guard up. Always be ready to counterattack."
Blaise followed suit, his focus unwavering as he practised the intricate footwork and swift strikes. "How do you manage to stay so calm under pressure?" he inquired.
Hvitserk chuckled. "Years of practice and the understanding that fear is a distraction. Embrace the fight, let your instincts take over, and always anticipate your opponent's next move."
At the edge of the training grounds, Sigurd and Enzo stood over a rough map drawn in the dirt. Sigurd's keen eyes scanned the lines and markings, his mind working through various strategies. "We need to anticipate their movements and use the terrain to our advantage," he explained, pointing to key positions on the map. "Ambush points here and here will be crucial."
