I noticed a paper plane gliding towards me, and I used my telekinetic ability to make it fly. I directed it at Kyle and Tarlo, two known pranksters.

"Just wanted to test you, Case," Tarlo said with a smile.

"It was obvious," I replied, shaking my head and grinning at both boys.

"Be careful not to overuse it," Erin warned.

"Relax, sis, it wasn't that long," Kyle reassured her.

"She's not wrong," Gunner nodded as he arrived in the room.

They were aware of the nosebleeds I get from overusing my telekinetic ability. I don't use it often, only in emergencies.

"And by the way, Dad's on his way down," Gunner added.

"What about?" Kara asked from across the room.

Brett's arrival in the break area meant that we had a case—more specifically, a murder case, as it was our expertise. Our group was a combination of NCIS and any crime drama series involving cops. We had access to almost everywhere, from the military to the government. All of us were called in due to our skills.

"Grab your gear," Brett called as he descended the steps. "And pack your bags. We're going to New Mexico."

"Why?" Noya sounded curious.

"I'll tell you on the way."

I headed for the locker room with the girls. We grabbed our supplies and a couple of outfits and stashed them into our backpacks.

We met Brett and the others in the parking garage, where we all piled into a van that was more like a shuttle.

"What's the word?" I asked as I strapped a seat belt.

"There's been a murder," Brett answered as he started the ignition.

"Who was killed?" Duane called from the very back.

"Tony Stark."

The rest of us turned to each other, Brett and Gunner. However, we learned not to be surprised by who was the murder victim, even if it was a famous or popular person.

"Casey, your old boss notified us and suggested that we meet up with him to discuss it," Gunner gave me a concerned expression.

It had SHIELD written all over it. I left the agency after one of my friends, Hope, a fellow agent, was killed while on a mission in Odesa, Ukraine, and after Craig, my ex-boyfriend, humiliated me in front of the STRIKE team afterward. All because I got a position that he wanted so badly. Hope knew how to put Craig in line. He became more egotistical with her gone, putting my friends and me down.

"We'll make sure you're not left alone if your ex happens to be there," Erin nodded as she placed a hand on my shoulder. "I might portal him to Siberia if he tries to give you a hard time."

"I'd so love to see that," I grinned at her.

"What about some place warmer and tropical, like Tahiti?" Jude remarked from the very back.

"Oh, you goofball," Kara playfully shoved him.
