Note: In this chapter there are scenes of violence (I will put them in italics), for those who do not wish to read it, skip that part until the letter is no longer italicized. Well, without further ado, enjoy the chapter.
It was a cold and dark night, the curtains swayed slowly to the sound of the wind that gently moved the leaves of the trees. Maomao was resting in her room, this time she was alone since Jinshi had gone on a trip a few days ago and she had to stay because a few days ago she had had a poisoning attempt and therefore (although much to her regret) she had to stay for her own protection and that of her baby.
Maomao was sleeping peacefully, but she woke up suddenly, she had heard a sound in her baby's room. She got up cautiously but quickly and went to see what was happening. She assumed it couldn't be Suiren because, even if she got up early, she didn't wander around the halls at night.
Maomao silently approached the door to her baby's room and found it ajar, which confirmed her suspicions and made her start to panic slightly.
She opened the door and what she found took her breath away for a few seconds: before her was a woman with slightly wavy brown hair, her face covered with a black scarf, which only left her eyes visible, and wearing a white dress that billowed in such a way that it gave her a ghost-like appearance. The woman had her right hand raised and in it a silver dagger that shone in the moonlight and she stared at a small bundle on the small bed.
- NO! - Maomao screamed and lunged at the woman, who, surprised by this sudden interruption, did not see Maomao and fell to the ground, where her emerald green eyes shone like those of a cat that sees its prey.
Maomao, with her little experience in combat, did not know how to act, but she was sure that if she made enough noise she would wake Surien and alert the officers. So she punched the woman squarely in the face, who dropped her handkerchief revealing a small bruise on her face which was, to say the least, beautiful, but with a hint of madness in her gaze that made it clear why she was there.
- You - Maomao muttered, her words conveyed a deep hatred - how dare you ...
But her sentence was left hanging in the air as she felt the silver dagger embedded in her right arm, causing her severe pain. The woman took advantage of Maomao's small moment of surprise and dragged her to the nearest wall. The noise had woken up the baby sleeping in the crib...
- How dare I say this – he snapped at her with contempt – when you know very well why I do it – and he stabbed her again with the dagger, but this time in the abdomen. Maomao closed her eyes tightly – You – he stabbed her again – took... away... what... was... mine... – he continued and underlined each word with a new stab of the dagger in different parts of the body.
- I didn't take anything from you – Maomao told her in a small voice – ... it was never yours nor... – she suddenly fell down when they stabbed her leg again with the dagger.
- Maybe you think that – she answered and sketched a smile full of madness – but you took something from me that I wanted and now – she stood up slowly – I will take something from you that you want – she approached the baby's small crib.
- No – said Maomao – please, don't retaliate against my baby... don't hurt him... if you want to hurt someone... it's me you should attack – she muttered slowly
- Like that? – she answered – well I don't agree – she approached the baby's crib
Maomao tried to stand up, but she couldn't. She felt the warm blood running down her body and staining the walls and floor. She used all her strength to try to avoid the event, but it was inevitable... . The woman smiled evilly and raised the dagger
- NO – Maomao screamed heartbreakingly

Maomao stood up abruptly, so much force was used that she hurt her neck, she looked to her side Jinshi had stood up because of Maomao's abrupt incorporation. She looked away, she was nervous, sweating and felt bad.
- Hey, are you okay? – Jinshi had sat up and sat next to Maomao
- Yes – she lied – she was very tense
- Maomao – she put her hand on his shoulder – I know you, what happened?
Maomao turned her head, she was pale, Jinshi looked at her worried.
- It was that dream – she asked, Maomao nodded
- Well – Maomao commented in a small voice – it's not a dream – she sighed – it's more like... a memory...
Maomao sighed, Jinshi took her cheek in one of his hands and looked at her. There were times when they could understand each other with just a look, Maomao smiled sadly. Jinshi hugged her.
- Do you want tea? – she asked – I can ask Suiren to prepare you some
- No, I'm fine, thank you – she separated from the hug
- Let's go see Azumi – he proposed
- Yes – Maomao agreed – I think it's the best
Jinshi kissed her, Maomao gave a small sad smile and stood up. She needed some time to calm down and Jinshi seemed to understand her, recent events had revived memories that she had tried to suppress...
