II. THE REASON[ CHAPTER TWO ]
Caroline rushed outside, Eden trailing behind her. Her eyes widened when she saw Nick towering over a little girl, her sleeve soaked with blood and plastered to her arm.
"Keep your fingers off the trigger, boy!" Pete exclaimed, snatching the rifle from Nick.
The little girl was frightened. She was injured and was nearly shot, all in just a couple of hours. She looked at the group with a frantic and desperate expression written all over her face.
Caroline made her way off of the porch and over to the group. "What the fuck, Nick?!" She clenched her jaw angrily. "Are you stupid?! There's no way you actually just did that." She reprimanded.
"You idiot! Every lurker for five miles heard that!" Rebecca scolded, glaring up at the man.
Nick glared at Caroline before turning to look down at Rebecca. "You're the one telling me to fucking shoot her." He spat.
Eden watched from the porch, knowing that if she stepped closer she'd be reprimanded by Carlos. She carefully leaned over the railing, watching the injured girl.
'She looks conscious. That's good.' Eden thought, Carlos' teachings coming in clutch. She wanted to be helpful in any way she could, often resulting in arguments between Carlos and Caroline.
Carlos was so sent on having the children keeping their innocence, which in retrospect wasn't a bad thing. However, lying and shielding them from the bad things in this fucked up world was only setting them up for failure.
"Everybody just calm down for a second!" Alvin exclaimed, gently placing a hand on Rebecca's shoulder. Rebecca glared at her husband before shooting her glare back to Nick.
Luke raced over to the injured little girl. "Clementine, you okay?" He asked softly, his eyes a bit wide. Nick's gunshot kind of sent him into a bit of a freight. How could Nick be so careless??
"I-I'm not working for anyone." Clementine stuttered, keeping her hand on her bloody sleeve. "I don't know what you're talking about. I just need help." She insisted, trying her hardest to keep her voice stern and steady.
She didn't want to seem helpless in front of them. She didn't trust these people, and she was sure that they didn't trust her either.
"We got a doctor right here, okay? He'll have a look." Luke gave Clementine a weak assuring smile before whipping around to lecture his group.
Caroline gave Clementine, a small smile. "Don't worry, honey. We have a great doctor. You'll be fixed in no time." She reassured.
Clementine nodded, wincing at the pain shooting up her arm. She just wanted to patch up her arm and leave.
