Hello, I'd like to explain the lore for this AU before we move forward. Other parts not mentioned here may be brought up throughout the story! Now then lets begin.  

Btw, Lumine is 1 year older than Aether and in this AU they switch heights. (Lumine: 5'4|| Aether: 5'2)

Aether was born into a happy tight knit family with his sister who swore to protect him. When the twins (Yes ik the max age gap is 90 days but its for the story! DX) turned 5 and 6, something quiet terrible had happened. Their parents had picked Aether up from school (Lumine was picked up by their Aunt an hour ago since the parents were at work). They were on the way to pick up Lumine from the Aunts house. On the way there was an accident. Aether had been talking to them slightly distracting his mom who was driving. Right when her attention was divided they were hit by a car speeding away from a Police car. Both his parents were killed. Aether survived since the car mostly hit the front of the vehicle. His voice was damaged slightly and he had fractured his skull. Ever since then Aether blamed himself for the ordeal. He never speaks again even if he is comfortable with someone. He doesn't even speak to Lumine. Yes he smiles and hangs out around her but doesn't talk. When he laughs its a simple "Hm Hm". He doesn't make much sound. This hurts Lumine the more she realizes how much Aether hurts. She also is sad Aether doesn't talk to her but understands his reasons. Once their parents died their Aunt had gotten custody and taken care of them. She is very nice and tries really hard to support them and give them what they need. No they aren't poor but aren't rich. They are middle class you could say. They all learned sign language to be able to easily communicate with Aether. 

For context they are going to a new school. Well more like an Academy. They would have never been able to go since tuition is a lot. They however were offered a Scholar ship since their outstanding grades would set a good example that the school had an amazing education hoping more families would enroll their kids. So they joined as Honor (Transfer) Students.
