Chapter 2

After that morning, they set Elyssia up in a dorm room. It was early evening, Elyssia was currently lying in her bed trying to fall asleep. She wished she had a roommate. She was excited to be in Auradon, but she also missed her best friend, Dizzy. She started crying.

Ben was walking through the dormitory halls. As he walked by a door, he heard crying. He remembered that Elyssia was assigned to this room. Ben quietly knocked on the door.

"Elyssia?" He said, softly. "May I come in?"

"I guess." He heard Elyssia say.

Ben walked into the dark room. He saw a figure lying on the bed.

"Elyssia?" He said, closing the door. "Are you alright?"

"What are you doing here?" Elyssia asked.

"I heard crying and wanted to make sure you were okay." Ben replied as he crossed over to the bed and turned the bedside lamp on. "What's wrong?"

"Why would you care anything about me?" Elyssia asked. "You're supposed to hate me."

"May I sit?" Ben asked, referring to the bed.

Elyssia nodded and Ben sat on the edge of the bed.

"I don't hate you, Elyssia." He said. "You have nothing to do with what your parents did."

Elyssia didn't say anything.

"May I ask why you're so upset?" Ben asked.

"I miss my best friend, Dizzy." Elyssia said.

Ben was quiet for the moment. "Do you want to go back?" He asked "I know earlier you said you didn't want to go back, but have you changed your mind since?"

"No!" Elyssia exclaimed. "I don't want to go back. I just want to see my friend."

"I'm sorry, Elyssia." Ben said.

"I wish I didn't have to sleep by myself." Elyssia said. "I don't like sleeping in here alone."

"Would you like to stay in my room with me until you're more comfortable?" Ben asked.

"Really?" Elyssia asked. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah." Ben said as he stood up from the bed. "Come on."

Elyssia followed behind Ben.

"Ben, why didn't you send me back?" Elyssia asked, a few minutes later. "Are you trying to change me so I don't end up like the villains on the Isle?"

"That's not it, Elyssia." Ben said. "I'm only trying to give you a chance to live in Auradon."

Elyssia nodded. "If Dizzy wanted to go to Auradon, would she be allowed too?" She asked.

"I don't know." Ben said. "Why don't you try getting some sleep."

Elyssia nodded and tried to sleep.
